vaidisova,
if she already retired, extending her RankPerYear won't make her come back, but she'll stay longer in your next career.
Else, you can add an old Venus at end of the base, after after lowered by 1 FreePlayerSlots under [WT_Static].

Hi I just bought TE4 and I can't play a 2 player local game. I tried different game modes, singles and doubles with my girlfriend, we have 2 controllers, so I put 'player 1 controller 1', 'player 2 controller 2'... but only player 1 works, the other 3 players were AI players.

I changed P2 controller to keyboard and even mouse...but still the same issue.

Is it possible to have a 2 player local game, or is this feature not available yet? (if yes, how do i set the game up?)

Thanks!

I found the way to do this: it was in the player profile, you have to select "human" on the second player.

lucasnofx,
what are your 2 controllers ?
Tomorrow or Wednesday I'll release an update that may help with non-classic controllers (ie: neither XBox nor PS4/5).

Hey, loving TE4 early version so far.

The only thing that's hindering my experience is that a good 30% of the points both me and my opponent seem to be bugging and their legs bend upwards which makes it look like they're playing on their knees almost. I would send a picture to show you but I can't send links as a new user apparently.

Is this a known bug or is it just positioning problems on my end?

Guest,
I got your Bug Report.
Add this line in your Tennis.ini , under [3dEngine] : (HowTo => topic19-32161.php )
Code: Select all
PlantHeel   =   0

It fails only on MacOS BigSur, so for the next update, it'll have automatically this option set on BigSur. :fear:

Hello, Manu!

First of all, thank you so much for the best tennis game out there. It's Early Version but already incomparable.

Having played almost 200 hours, gameplay-wise the only thing that bothers me is the visual effect when AI uses an acceleration. Actually, I still haven't figured out when it happens and what it's about but this white-colored effect appears occasionally when the AI's racket hits the ball. Not only does it undermine realism but it's rather confusing to the eyes, especially during rallies. After losing track of the ball and the point several times, I looked up in the Settings but there was no way to turn it off. Could you add something there in the next update?

Thank you very much again!

dongtaipo,
the smoke shows the player is tired and starts to hit less efficient accelerations.
At some point, the texture should be moddable, so you could replace it by a fully transparent one, but it might not arrive before a while... :fear:

And thanks for the praise ! :jap:

Hey

With the latest update, my game is now crashing on start up when my Xbox controller is plugged in. If I start the game with the controller disconnected it's fine but when I reconnect the controller it won't recognise it.

I use the steam version.

Guest,
it should be fixed in the new update. Restart your Steam if it doesn't see it. :fear:

I think the last build brougth a lot more stability, last ones causes weird animations but they seem less common now.

Regarding the controller scheme I have the following feedback:
1) I like that at the top corner there's an explanation of what the buttons do, I feel this should be present in all menus.
2) I feel there should be a different button for raising a value rather than the action button, this way you can set both triggers to decrease/increase values for example
3) Found it complicated to navigate in the character section since there are a lot of options there. I think selecting a player and choosing if it's human or cpu and his level should be closer together and easier to get to. In other words, I think that screen should be arrenged differently.
4) Small one but it's distracting to see the cursor (tennis ball) on the selected pane.

Overall I think it's a huge step forward but I still find myself using the mouse for certain activities since it's faster to move in some menus.

In another aspect, I like the new serve buttons and options, I still wasn't able to double fault by using the safe serve, so I'm not sure how I feel abou it: makes you feel safer in break point but it kind of takes some excitment when serving
