still slowly but still surely, TE4 advances.

We have now reached the Early Version stage : all the visual elements from TE2013/TEM2 have been replaced by the ones for TE4.

The main next steps are :
- gameplay tuning & improvements
- animation improvements
- commentaries
- 10 new stadiums
- sound improvements
- new features : single tournament mode, service training, etc.
- Full Modding support : only the outfits are noticeably missing now, but other parts will be improved too

Requirements

- OS: 64-bit Windows 7/8/10, macOS 10.12+, Linux Ubuntu 16.04 or 18.04 (works on other Linux distribs as well)
- 4GB of RAM
- For the 3D courts with high quality, a 3D card with about 5000 points here https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html (to play with 60fps @ 1080p), and DirectX 11 support (on Windows) ; for ~100 fps @ 1440p, you'll need 10'000 points
- For the 2D courts, an IGP or a 3D card with about 1000 points here https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/mid_range_gpus.html , and DirectX 11 support (on Windows)


What is the current state of the Early Version?

Currently TE4 is more complete than TE2013. The only missing thing is the support for outfit Modding.

Version 0.42 ; SubBuild 2021.5.25:

New Features :
- Visuals : new crowd
- Visuals : new low detail players matching the high detail design & textures

Bug Fixes :
- Full Installer : updated the plugin to get writing access to the game folder, which should hopefully help with some TE4-Launcher issues

Notes :
- Visuals : if you want to play with the legacy TE2013/TEM2 players, set this line in your Tennis.ini, under [3dEngine], from : (HowTo => topic19-32161.php )

You might get some issues with the textures, though.
If you do this change, please don't post video nor screenshot of the result, except on ManaGames' Forum, to avoid giving the wrong idea about the game to the watchers.

Bug Fixes :
- Audio : if your audio drivers didn't support 5.1 nor 7.1 output, the music wasn't working and it created distorted & buzz sounds
- Online : it was possible to open the menus during the rallies

- Online : it was not possible to enter the Online menu
- Patcher : the patcher was likely not working, and thus you might have to redownload the whole installer to update ; if the patcher created a crash, uninstall the whole demo (but you can keep your settings), then install it again with the latest full installer

Bug Fixes :
- Online : if the opponent had a full version and selected a court other than the trial one, then the court (or 2D background) wasn't loaded correctly

Changes :
- Render : tuned down a bit the shininess of some props to avoid aliasing issues when the camera moves
- World Tour : when selecting an existing Pro player, he'll start 1 or 2 years later if his Pro ranking was too low and he was under 18 (ie: he was actually still a Junior player)

Bug Fixes :
- World Tour : fixed a couple of issues when starting a new career and selecting an existing player and clicking "Junior" on his Character Sheet
- Bug Report : since the previous build, the Bug Report could be manually opened only during matches, and not in the menus
- Music : when the music was on with a 2-speaker setup, the music wasn't working at all and all sounds could get weirdly distorted & buzzing

- Animation : fixed a bug making the players weirdly bend when they were missing low balls from just a bit
- Animation : fixed a bug making the racket jitter a tiny bit when missing a ball by just a bit
- Animation : the 1H-Backhand #1 had the off-hand jittering during the preparation
- Audio : music wasn't turning off after the in-game help message

Version 0.43 - Build 54 ; SubBuild 2021.6.22:

New Features :
- Online : if you press a Modifier Key (Right Control & Shit by default), display a list of all Quick Chat keys triggered by this Modifier key (and another key)
- Career : can now change the starting age when starting a new career as a Pro

Changes :
- Career : it's now possible to change at any time the strike animations & grunts (it's less realistic, but just more convenient, especially for the future console players )
- Strike : nerfed a bit the slice, so it's a bit slower when well hit, and noticeably slower when badly hit
- Strike : strongly lowered the spin handicap when hitting a topspin strike on the run
- Strike : strongly lowered the tolerance on raising balls to trigger the Shoulder Height acceleration bonus (ie: if you take the ball a bit too much before its highest point, you won't get a speed bonus on your strike)
- Strike : raised a bit the racket reach when running to the side
- Strike : better prediction if the player will be able to strike the ball or not (so the player won't air-swing if the ball is too far from him)
- Talent : the Slice Mastery talent now strongly reduces the handicap of hitting poorly a slice instead of raising the strike speed

Bug Fixes :
- Animation : fixed several weird dynamic animations when the player was hitting (or almost hitting) a ball far from him, and/or on the run
- Animation : the animation could get slightly out of sync when running after the ball (which was also additionally creating weird dynamic animations )

Notes :
- Demo / Trial version : the demo update buttons didn't work correctly, so you need to manually launch "TE4-Launcher" to get the latest version (or redownload the full installer manually)
- More tuning on the topspin strike efficiency will come ; this Build is hopefully a 1st step in the good direction...

New Features :
- Online : it is now possible to host for people behind an ISP Carrier-grade NAT, but they will be only joinable by players not behind a CGNat (*) and with their UDP port correctly open (ie: no push-through) ; to join such a host, you need to update to this version

Bug Fixes :
- Shortcuts : clicking on Controls -> Shortcuts -> Default was corrupting all shortcuts using a Modifier key ; if you did that in the past, do that again with this version to get the Modifier keys back

Notes :
- (*) : if your ISP CGNat uses the same public port when sending packets to 2 different targets, then the Push-Through server will work for you and you'll be able to join Host being a CGNat and you should be already able to host since the last change done on managames.com earlier today

Build 55 ; SubBuild 2021.7.6:

Changes :
- Strike : lowered the topspin handicap on low balls, on 1H & 2H backhands, on off-centered balls, on raising & falling balls
- Strike : lowered the handicaps on the slice strike when prepared late
- Animation : changed the way the players bend their back to reach for low & far balls, so it's done more smoothly & naturally (it's still not 100% perfect, but it probably won't get better without real hand-made animations, I guess )
- HUD : the little triangle on the Energy bar now lowers when the max possible Energy is limited by the Short Term Form

Bug Fixes :
- Animation : on low balls, the dynamic animation was making the player kinda lower then go back up
- Animation : the body could be strangely pushed when hitting on the run
- Animation : the strike time prediction could lead to a too late auto-positioning, creating super weird animations on the legs
- Animation : fixed the spine rigging for the players, which was creating weird deformations when the players were bending their back
- World Tour : the tournament limit for your Junior player wasn't enforced
- World Tour : the Junior rankings was using the 18 best results instead of 6
- World Tour : the counted tournaments for the Junior ranking were not flagged as such in the Activity screen
- World Tour : if your Junior player participated in a Pro tournament, the total prize was raising despite the Junior players not being able to get any prize
