Everybody,
I got an idea for a test ; I added the SDL version of the game to the patch => https://www.managames.com/download.php?T ... ch_w10.exe .
The SDL version uses OpenGL instead of DirectX 8 for the rendering, so testing it should give a good idea if the issue is linked to the rendering or not.
To test, download & install the patch, then copy all the files within "C:\Program Files (x86)\Tennis Elbow 2013\Sdl" to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Tennis Elbow 2013" then launch TennisElbowSdl.exe and let me know if it changes anything or not.

Note: the SDL version doesn't support Network play.

Maybe try to reinstall TE2013 & manually install your display drivers.
Also, post the System.log after the game fails to start.

polakis,
thanks for your report ; so it's a very strange case... Is the stuttering constant or intermittent ? Does it comes only after a while ?

In my case, it is stuttering for like 10/15 seconds. It never stutters at first, only after 2/3 minutes. Then it stops and come back 2/3 minutes later.

isaldor & matservant,
does it happen with both 2D & 3D courts ? Or only one of those ?

Possibly, install Process Explorer => https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sys ... 2147217396 ; launch it before launching TE, and when the stutter occurs, then swap to Process Explorer & check what used the CPU in the previous seconds (click on the CPU usage window, and put the mouse on the graph to see the name of the process using the CPU).
If there's any program taking a noticeable amount of CPU except TE, then it's your culprit. If there's nothing, then it's back to square 1... :fear:

Everybody,
does anyone having this issue have a PC with only 1 GPU and no Intel IGP ?
If you have both an intel IGP and a GPU, try to disable the Intel IGP in the Bios and check if it helps or not.

I'm also having this problem on my laptop with 2 GPUs. My problem is that TE always uses my Intel GPU even though I had set it to run with the NVIDIA GPU so I don't know how to force it to use NVIDA GPU.
I also disabled my Intel HD GPU in device manager and launched TE but in the game settings it shows "Microsoft display driver" as the video card.

i'm not using W10 nor tested it yet so i can't comment on my experience, though i'll paste here a chat excerpt wich may still bring some info,
i think i didn't saw this behavior reported here :

[21:11:04] <Rob92> I am seeing it more and more lately
[21:11:13] <Rob92> seems like the longer matches go on, the more it stutters
[21:11:44] <isaldor> don't think it is a fps issue
[21:11:48] <Rob92> in one off sets it's fine but deep into a 2nd set, becomes horrible to play
[21:12:04] <isaldor> yeah i had that against fez
[21:12:19] <isaldor> fine in first set then it almost cost me the second set
[21:13:18] <Rob92> This is why I wasn't seeing it and reported not experiencing the stutters to begin with
[21:13:23] <Rob92> was just playing 1 set matches

That may explain why some people at first reported having no issues then finally experienced it a bit later, or your own test Manutoo may not
have been long enough to notice the issue triggering, maybe.

We also have a win10 user (BDMIAM) who seems having no issues at all, playing on integrated Intel graphics 4000 on a desktop computer (with no additional video card installed).

One more thing to test : disable any power management that may be set ; try the "High Performance" plan and check if it helps or not.

Just tried the high performance plan and things are better for sure! I dont have slowdown, just some small occasionally hiccups for 0,5 second that dont affect the gameplay for me! Thanks manutoo!!!

And something else. Trying to install maxou patch on clean te2013 but it fails to launch. I have windows10. What am i doing wrong?

Re: Windows 10 upgrade, same configuration game stutters

Postby SQA333 » 24 Aug 2015, 14:54

Hi guys,

Since the upgrade to Windows 10 I have struggled like most of you to solve the game crashes with FSAA enabled, and the microstuttering. However I managed to temporarily solve it, thanks to another forum post on the Interweb.

First things first:
- DELETE PRE-EXISTING TENNIS.INI (suggested by Manutoo in an earlier post)
1. The game will create a new one when you start it up next. My preferences and settings were already stored in the files located in the Profiles folder, so this had no effect on them once the user profile was switched from the Default one.

====================================================================================================

- DISABLE FSAA IN GAME (everyone knew this already) and force it in NVIDIA Control Panel or the AMD equivalent as follows:
1. Antialiasing (FXAA) - ON
2. Antialiasing Mode - Override any application setting; Setting - 2x

With these settings, most of the jagged edges aren't visible anymore, and fullscreen-play can be enjoyed in all its glory.

=============================================================================================
Now for the important one:

- SET A LIMIT TO MAXIMUM PRE-RENDERED FRAMES in NVIDIA C.Panel:
1. Initially I set it to 4, which greatly reduced the stuttering, but there were still traces of it here and there.
2. Setting it to 2 has reduced the stuttering even more (God forbid it returning again 8-) )

NB: As a precautionary measure:

- TURN ON V-SYNC / TRIPLE BUFFERING in NVIDIA C.Panel

=============================================================================================

This may or may not work for everyone, but I'd just like to share my experiences with changing these settings.

Good luck with Windows 10!

Thank you very much SQA333 !!!!!
I did all of what you adviced,
the result is : the stutterings are still here but less and shorter,
but now I can activate FSAA ingame and it doesn't crash !
Thank you very much !

For me, there are lags during 10 seconds, then it's ok (no lags) during 3 seconds, and after lags comeback.
For a moment I thought I had found a solution but no :( Lag still here...
