Manutoo,

1-I dont get an error. The game starts with Intel IGP. Is there a log or something I can check for the nvidia card?

4-Can you kindly provide me with any SDL version you have? I would like to test with my nvidia card.

5-Acer BIOS does not let you disable IGP and please correct me if I am wrong. Instead, I was able to DDU IGP to take it out of the picture. When I do that, and as someone already mentioned, the game starts with "Basic Microsoft Driver bla bla bla". It simply does not want to start with the nvidia card. Again, is there a log file that would tell us what is upsetting the nvidia GPU? (I can see from the task bar notification area that the GPU tries to start and then gives up!)

EH008,
1- you can look "C:\Program Files (x86)\Tennis Elbow 2013\System.log" ; it will show you that the game sees only the IGP

4- sorry, it takes time to bundle it, and as it has been sufficiently tested without any improvement, there's no reason to bundle a new one

5- Uninstalling the drivers will likely just make you use the IGP with the default Windows drivers. I don't have such kind of laptop, so I can't help you in more depth on that issue. If the BIOS doesn't allow to disable the IGP (like on Desktop), I'm afraid you're out of luck...

Manutoo,

4- Earlier, people were testing the SDL version to see if it would eliminate the stutter, but their GPU was already running the game. In my case, the game does not run at all with the GPU so an SDL version, if it works, could prove to be vital, to me to other players I am sure...Otherwise, my GPU, and the money I spent on the new laptop, goes to waste, which would really be shameful and unfair...What about the patch you uploaded earlier? Cant you share the same with us so you wouldnt have to spend extra time and effort on this?

EH008,
a build is done to match the data, thus the previous SDL build doesn't work anymore.
If you have an IGP, you shouldn't have rendering issue if you play with the 2D courts (and likely in very low details with 3D courts), so you can try that.

Manutoo,

As I reported earlier in this thread, IGP works with occasional stuttering so rendering issues do exist. Moreover, I have invested money in a powerful GPU and in Windows 10 so I want to use them. By the way, I have opened a ticket with Nvidia also. There is a solution I know but someone has to act on it (TE2013 and/or nvidia) so please forgive me for pushing you and not taking no for an answer. In fact, I have more hope in you updating the game than in nvidia fixing the problem. I went on their forum and people are making so much noise about windows 10 compatibility and expressing their frustration with nvidia support. Even one nvidia support person admits they are aware "there are issues with windows 10 and DirectX 8 games". I have a strong feeling that if TE2013 is updated to a different rendering engine than DirectX 8 it will work perfectly for all of us on Windows 10 and with the GPU. Everyone wants to move to Windows 10 these days and also want to play TE2013. I think it is in your interest to update it to keep it popular and successful. If you go on stream and try to download the game from there, they clearly say that recommended OS for playing TE2013 is Windows7/8. Everyone knows there is an issue with TE2013 and Windows 10.

Finally, if there is anything I can do to help in the troubleshooting, if you can guide me how to bypass DirectX 8, I am willing to give it a shot myself...

EH008,
maybe give a try to this DX8->DX9 converter : http://enbdev.com/convertor_dx8_dx9_v0035.htm .

If you get occasional stuttering with your IGP, you'll likely get them as well with your NVidia GPU (this is the point of this topic ; issues come from Win10, not the IGP/GPU).

Manutoo,

Thank you for your reply. I will have a shot at this DX8 to DX9 converter. Regarding the stuttering, if we have a strong believe that the issue is in Windows 10, how do we solve it? Microsoft expects Intel, Nvidia, and TE2013 to adapt to their new OS and not vice versa. This is the point I am trying to make in a polite manner. Perhaps TE2013 needs to be developed and issued in a new release that fully support the latest OS and rendering technologies.

Re: Windows 10 upgrade, same configuration game stutters

Postby EH008 » 13 Apr 2016, 17:00

Manutoo,

Game runs with nvidia GPU when I extract the enbconverter files in TE directory. When I start the game, I get the message "Your 3D card does not support the capabilities needed for the game" message and asks me whether I want to continue, I click yes and the game opens. You can only see the players hair and racket but you can play the game smoothly and you can see that the GPU is running!! So please help me make the game work with Directx 9 and hopefully we should be in business!! (I am excited :)...!!)

I found a program called ReShade which also converts DX8 to DX9. Game runs perfect on my GTX960 without any stuttering (although I want to test for longer periods just to be sure...) Obviously, there are a few graphic issues since DX is converted: some ugly black color in the menus, ball blur/shade is yellow and disturbing to the eye, if you play with blur like tv settings the ball looks almost like there is another one attached to it :)...

By the way, I found about ReShade on the GeForce forum. I am also pushing Nvidia to declare whether it is a driver bug or they deliberately dropped DX8 support. In conclusion, after all the testing I did, either Nvidia will release a new driver bringing back DX8 support (and God knows if and when it would happen...) or Manutoo will release a new TE2013 build tested and optimized for DX9 (or even more recent DX10/11). I dont know what else to do to motivate you to do it and convince you it is not waste of your effort and time :)))...

Manutoo, with DX9, IGP runs the game even better than GPU (I am still a novice at tweaking the nvidia settings)...I will do some more testing over the weekend but things are looking really good. It seems, as you rightfully guessed, that both Intel and Nvidia are not giving DX8 enough attention bc they assume we wont be playing old games on Windows 10...

Yup, and it'll be called TE4... ;)
Hopefully, drivers programmers will handle DX8 games better, there are still a few good games using that old version of DX.

I promise to keep it a secret :P

I have AMD Radeon and run Windows 10. I also experienced stuttering problem some months ago and tried all of the proposed solutions and I failed to fix it.
It is sad that this forced me to stop playing this game since this is the only OS I currently have. I will try tonight once again to see if I have any luck

EDIT: It seems I have the same issue.

Everybody,
I just upgraded the 3D Engine to DirectX 9 (*). Download the patch and let me know if it helps for your issues or not => http://www.managames.com/download.php?T ... ch_W10.exe .

As it was working fine on my PCs before, I can't tell if it will change anything for people experiencing issues... :fear:

(*) It turned out it was faster than expected, although not much simpler...
But I guess I had to do it for TEM2 to avoid compatibility issues, so here we go... :blackeye:

EDIT:
If you never installed DirectX 9, you might need to install this => https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... 35&nowin10 .

Dear Manutoo,

I am glad you were eventually convinced to do this :P...Your efforts are always appreciated :)...I installed the patch and did a very quick test. TE2013 seemed to run smoothly and without stuttering on Windows 10. I was also able to run the game with the graphic card of my choice (both IGP and GPU worked), which really makes me very happy :)!!!
