For today's build, I lowered the minimal reputation cap, so you'll get more players on that list. Let me know if it's enough or not... :)

Seems a much better amount now, thanks.

Just a couple of other points:

1) Whenever I watch a 3D match between 2 coached players, then I view the coaching tactics for my second player, then enter a new match after that match finishes I can change the coaching strategies for my opponent in the next match. I'm assuming that the coaching strategies for player 2 are selected and don't reset whenever a new match starts.

2) For the recruiting players screen could you add a toggle for singles/doubles/all?

Hey Manutoo,

So I've been testing a variety of things, firstly my main save so not in training club. Did testing with 20% top spin and flat back hand and it is as I described. Increased top spin to 60% and the difference is negligible. Still the same issues off of slices and returns but also a generally all around difficulty in getting depth on the backhand beyond the service line. With higher top spin this becomes a problem with the ball bouncing more favourably. I also then tried this at 100% top spin and again the difference is tiny. Maybe less than 5% errors than with a flatter shot but at the trade off of the problems I described.

I've also tried this with different styles and also with the spinny BH talent. The most noticeable things are the return of serve, lack of depth on a normal rally shot and the inconsistency with being able to hit winners with an acceleration shot even up on the baseline. Able to do it with a forehand, but with a backhand it's very very inconsistent. The only thing that the top spin seemed to influence is the ability to return slices a little bit better.

megadam,
I did a quick try and the backhand performed correctly. So I'm not sure what you're experienced exactly, but I'll do deeper tests when I'll be working on the gameplay.

2 things though :
- the shoulder height acceleration bonus is more efficient on the FH side so it could explain at least in part what you feel (but not all, as for example it shouldn't come into play on the return of serve)
- with the 1H Backhand I tested, it's less easy to find the racket sweet spot than with the FH ; this one is dependant on the selected animation, so it might be easier or harder with other ones

Just wanted to say thank you for the good work and give some feedback after playing for a little while.

1. There seems to a bug when you have multiple players and planning your schedule. Whenever there is a pop up(for example, when it tells you that you might have to do qualifying), it will change to another players schedule after you get rid of that pop-up.

2. It seems like every girl has a 1 handed backhand. Probably should be the opposite. But I don't know if that is a quick fix or you would have to change each player manually, :fear: . The WTA database could do with some work overall but it isnt the biggest deal.

3. Gameplay question. Can you change the potential of non-custom players as Juniors?

4. Suggestion: It would be nice if going into debt had more of an impact than just increased interest payments. Something like less training spots because your player has to work or even a game over if you go too far. Some players might hate that though :fear:

leigh288,
1) I couldn't reproduce this bug.
Do you have the latest version ? (SubBuild 2019.2.3, visible in the Credits screen)
If yes, could you send me your saved game ? (HowTo => topic19-4589.php ) I'll check what's going on.

2) I checked and yup, all 2H-backhand info is gone..!
I'll put them back when I'll update the base with 2018 rankings, for v1.0.

3) Yes, but they'll be reset to their normal values if you don't coach that player anymore

4) If you're in debt, you can't hire trainers, so that's a big downside. It means managing well your money could be the difference in a couple of Grand Slams at the start of your career. (I never checked exactly, though :blackeye: )

I've experienced the popup bug as well. Try selecting a tournament with a low ranking warning for 2 different coached players and you should see the planning screen revert to the first player you had selected after you close the low ranking popup. It works with the doubles partners popup as well.

leigh288 & MichaelTA,
ok, I found the bug : it was restoring the player initially selected when entering the Coached Player menu.
It'll be fixed for the next update ! :)

Hi Manu! So I played my first full match in training club using edited versions of Nadal and Federer (I won't go into details, but they were pretty close stats-wise) and lost 6/4 6/4. I played with Rafa on clay. I used to do well in Master 5 in TE 2013, but here I lost against Pro 10 CPU. I used All + danger zone + aiming in preview (In TE 2013 I only used the one where it shows you where it's going to bounce) and simulation controls.

Here are a couple of things I noticed:
- It's really hard to return serve, impossible at times. The total points tally was 48-61, but Federer hit 23 aces and not a single double fault. There was even a game where he hit four aces in a row
- I find it easier to serve. I hardly got any aces in TE 2013 but here I put 8 past Federer, not a lot but it's a good amount for myself.
- Defensive lob felt a bit overpowered. Whenever Federer went up to the net, I could easily lob him to get a winner or to make him hit a complicated smash and set up the point to my favor. He ended up with 3/15 net points won and I usually struggle against volleyers. I didn't try the agressive lob at all.
- We barely had any long rallies, they ended pretty quickly. The whole match was 24 real-time minutes long, which seems a bit short for a 6/4 6/4 score line.
- Although I hit fewer winners (17-22), I ended up with less total errors (15-23) and overall felt better than my rival during rallies, but he really made the difference with the aces, so maybe serve could be buffed somehow?

Let me know what you think! The game's looking great

Strikeware203,
thanks for your feedback !
I likely raise a bit the reach on the return of serve, as right now it's tuned for CPU vs CPU and the CPU can move more freely than the user (coz he can accelerate his run in any direction, where the user has only 8 possible directions).

It's significantly slower to run now, so that might be why the defensive is so effective now. I'll check that when I'll be working on the gameplay.

@Strikeware203
- I think that number of aces is very high for both sides (i played some matches with Federer, Berdych, Del Potro when I hit about 25 aces in ONE set). But you are right, rallies are much shorter (but I like this way to play and when I have a longer rally, I enjoy it much more than in TE2013). It happens also when I'm playing a match between two defenders where could be a higher frequency of long rallies. :D
- Maybe like manutoo wrote ("I likely raise a bit the reach on the return")....In my point of view I think it could be good to add a new animation (I mean stretching to hit a shot...to have an another button - like "supersave shot" for these stretches and "dinks"). :D :D

- manutoo: will you rework the Players.ini documents? Because when I want to play the women's tour, each woman player has one handed backhand....and in men's tour some players has a different play style than in real life (for example Thiem has Varried...now All Court Attacker).

But thank you Manu. This game is amazing...and I still only have a demo version (because I'm wating for Steam release), so I'm looking forward to full version, it'll be fantastic!! :applause: :applause:

Sali_O296,
I'll fix the 2H-BH issue in the woman base, plus I'll update all rankings to end of 2018 for the v1.0, and hopefully, soon I'm going to add the Focus skill.
If you want to fix some player styles and send me the modified base, you're very welcome to do it !

Why when we are choosing a existing player.. we can't have the stats already made ? Like we start with him from the bottom ..
