What are your thoughts on replicating defence seen in real life, Manu?
I love the new stretch animation. It allows me to get to balls with my player that were simply either ungettable in TE2013, or that always hit the net especially when returning with a slice.
But I think there's more that can be done. I know you're already working on sliding, so I'll leave that out, but I'm thinking more specifically about slices. I recall in a previous conversation you mentioned you put the chance for forehand slices lower than backhand as a player gets in hard to generate as much spin on the ball, but take a look at this video ten seconds in:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ2vK_gF1Q8. Djoko is renowned for making that type of slice again and again on the run. Also, at 3:00 in that same video, do you think it's possible to animate that type of slice/reverse spin? And again, 18 secs into this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9HV_swF_XY we see Nadal make an incredible deep forehand slice when he has no right to. And then, at 12:01 in this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWKvKYUdQWc take a look at Nadal's position, the shot from Verdasco, and the forehand slice back into play. And finally, sorry for all the clips but it's the best way to illustrate my point, the rally from 13:56 to 14:25 in the same video is the most insane defence imaginable. I can't help but feel three or four of those shots against any player in TE4 would have been winners, yet prime Nadal got them back and won the point.
It's one of the things I hate about tennis games that aren't Tennis Elbow. They animate slices exactly the same every time without variation. I've always loved playing defence in Tennis Elbow, but I feel that it can still be improved beyond what it currently is.
