1) From the video, it's hard to be 100% sure, but I think you were a bit late to prepare your slice to be sure it'll go in. If you play with Elite controls, then it's sure it was not enough.

2) This strike does indeed look very strange. It seems to be a completely missed banana shot that is somehow hit with a slice animation. If you have the .dmo, you can send it to me and I'll check what happened there... :fear:

I played with this guy who usually does the weird slice shot to the end of the court with big bounce, i always give it back, but its annoying to be using it, he told me, he just tap the slice button and press down. i let him use it because i always put him a 6-0.

It would be nice if you fix that weird shot.

1) Yeah fair enough, likely still trying to figure out TE4 over 2013 lol

2) Its slightly too large to send as an attachment and I can't link it as my account is too new. What is the best way to get the file to you? Also, I just went over the demo and the guy did that shot off both wings in the 2-0 game. It seems very repeatable but I have no idea how they do it

ADumbObserver,
you can send me a Bug Report while watching the replay => topic5-31732.php .
According to HeadHunter description, this is the poor defensive slice combo, done like this : Slice -> Defensive Lob -> Slice. But it looks weird on the video you have posted. I just did a dozen and they seem ok-ish, but maybe a bit too long too often when prepared early.

ADumbObserver,
I got your Bug Report. It's indeed the poor defensive slice. I'll try to tune it a bit when I'll work on the gameplay.

Basically, weird animation = wrong positioning, so if you see weird animations, then you have to work on your positioning. And if it feels better now, it might just mean you play better now..! :blackeye:

Note : however, there are 2 important exceptions from missing dedicated animations : the low far ball, and the high volley. I'll add these animations in the future. :-)

I hope you didn't create this game for expert players only :) I consider myself a decent player but wrong positioning will happen very often and the resulting animation will look weird anyway (which ruins a lot the fun for me to be honest).

Hi! Just wanted to add that I currently play in Pro mode 1 or 2 in TE4, most I was able to play was pro 5 on TE2013, so as you can see I'm no expert at all, just like to feel challenged, maybe over time I can play at higher levels.

I think we should consider 2 implications with bad positioning. Animation and shot. As manu posted, bad positioning means bad animation and regarding the shot, bad position means a short ball (as an actual tennis amateur player I am, I can relate so much to this, happens all the time :D:D).

I agree with Lucian86 about the bad positioning animation, but I'm sure it will be tuned and polished over time and the short ball just adds a gameplay element here, it forces you to play with more focus and adds a layer of depth to the game. With that being said, I haven't tried the autoposition to the top, I play only with none at all or at medium, So maybe with that setting short balls (and weird animations) are gone?

I have a problem: every time I enter a match and help menu appears, when I press ok button my player (if is the first to serve) hit the ball automatically

Just to add my 2 cents in regards to what has been said above me

The animations for following through on shots and reaching shots are indeed very rough but I believe once polished and if animators maybe can also help manu then it will be sublime. The additional movements should really benefit the solid base of what TE has already shown us before. Movement is the key.

Lucian86 & Fed1 &Ethanovic, (and everybody interested by this problematic :blackeye: )
I gave it some thought, and the logical solution would be to add an auto-pos speed between Medium & Fast (the latter being designed for newcomers), so you'd pick it and if you don't do enough errors with it, you could switch to the Elite controls.
Like this, you should see less silly bending but still get a decent challenge. Does it sound like an acceptable solution ? :)

However, I think it's good in term of gameplay to have a strong visual feedback for your mispositioning, and hopefully overall it'll get better when I add the missing animations (eg: stretching).

duffer,
try to use the "menu" button to close the menu instead.

Sounds good to me, it's a nice middle ground and adds smoothness for new comers, but it keeps the challenge to everyone.

I'm so on board with rewarding good positioning and have a penalty for not doing so. I guess that an ideal solution would be to implement a new 'bad position' animation? I'm not so sure how it would look, specially considering you don't see pro players bad positioning too often (If someone has some video it would be great) but in many cases my problem is that I hit the ball very close to my player, instead of having some space for the arms to follow through (this is so RELATABLE to amateur players :D :D), so I think the arm/s should be closer to the body at the moment of impact (they don't stretch since there's no space to do so). I think the 'weird' part of the animation comes from the upper body, torso and arms, so maybe working on the arms movement can help.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Yes, i should have added the fact I do believe keeping it until v1.0 is the best way because you can easily continue improve it best with feedback
