Worth upgrading to TE4?

Postby kamyFC » 18 Jul 2022, 07:07

Hi guys,
This is my review on Steam for TE2013. What a game kudos to ManuToo the sole developer. I hope there are more sales for him.

My question is it worth upgrading to TE4?
Are courts more realistic and is controller support better?

Hello,

yes, yes, & yes... :blackeye:

You can check the demo here to know if everything is of your liking : http://www.managames.com/tennis .

A little warning : it needs an adaptation time to get used to all the changes, and as long as you won't position your player correctly, he'll do kinda weird animations.

And thanks for the recommendation on the Steam store page ! :jap:

If you really need Men/Women Pro Tour type of mods, TE2013 is still the game to play (Although there's one mod out, I think!). But TE4 definitely already has better gameplay going for it. So if you can deal with a lack of mod support at this stage, go with TE4 100%.

kamyFC,
to address your concern in your review :

1) The court physics has probably been changed in the Mod you have installed. In the original game, the courts feel quite different, more than in real life, although not as different as in the 90's. It's more like 2005.

2) The LB & RB work on the XBox controller. Try to change this line in your Tennis.ini (or your Profile .ini if you have created one), under [Game], from :
XInput = 0
to :
XInput = 1
Then save & launch the game ; maybe it'll help with your Logitech controller. :fear:

Thank you so much manutoo for responding. I appreciate it.
Now that you say there are decent amount of gameplay changes, I will get Elbow 4!

I would like to understand how adding courts work in Elbow 2013

So in my steam installation, the mod folder is empty.
Under mods directory, do I need to create 'data' folder and 'customcourt01' folder and place the 2 court files?

What if i have 10 courts i want to add, do i keep making customcourt01, customcourt02 folders?
If we make these folders, how do we map these folders to the court ID?

I wish we had a detailed guide on modding courts. Would appreciate some advice.
Thanks in advance.

@ deknegt Thank you for your recommendation. I only play vanilla mate. My only interest with modding is adding maybe some 10-15 courts which I'm struggling to add.
Thanks again.

kamyFC,
sorry, I really don't have the time to help with Modding TE2013 (I do for TE4 because it's in construction).
You'll find answers to your questions here : https://www.managames.com/tennis/doc/HowToMod.html ("How to add a court ?" section), topic29-11960.php , topic29-7243.php (FAQ is here : topic29-4059.php )
You can post in the TE2013 Modding section if you need more help, maybe someone will answer. :yes:
