Tennis Elbow 2009 released !

General discussions about the 3rd edition of Tennis Elbow

Postby ahmedcoolio » 04 Nov 2008, 13:57

Ya i agree with TScott the topsin can get crazy sometimes.I mean i would have to wear stilts in real life to reach the ball against few players lol .
It does get a bit boring to just keep rallying for eternity as tscott mentioned against players like Tog etc (im not attackin u just an example :) ).

Manutoo, i think you need to add more double faults to the CPU players. i can say in the last 2 weeks of playing TE 2009, i've never seen my opponents making DF. not even from a player ranked 300-500 which is not exactly true.

i don't know if it's bc i play on the lower levels. if not, please consider it to make the game more realistic

No! Don't take away my topspin! :cry:

Ok, I should probably explain myself. 100% topspin may be hard to defend against when I play well, but I feel that it's just like playing Nadal in real life, it's not that unrealistic. As for the flat hard-hitters, I don't think that that style should be changed either. If you mess with one, you need to mess with the other, and if you mess with either, the game gets more boring I think. I like the way the styles contrast now.

There is one thing i have a problem with: you can get more topspin with a one-handed backhand than you can with a two-hander. I think that topspin comes more naturally with a two-handed backhand, which is what I use in real life, and which is what the topspin king (Nadal) uses also.

I agree about the flatness. Its impossible to hit so many shots that flat. Both should be reduced. And that topspin is so much higher bouncing than an actually Nadal shot. And it has much more velocity on it as well.

Points d'entraînements ?

Postby YoYo_BzH » 04 Nov 2008, 23:44

Salut !

Regarding the power issue, I am seeing a problem when the CPU is set to Power Baseliner. After I first install, it hits good and hard, but if I go changing both my and the CPU playing styles, then change back to Power Baseliner, it seems to hit way more softer shots, mixed with some hard shots, but definitely not as hard as before.
Settings are all at 100%, EXCEPT for CPU Net Presence, Volleys, and Smash, which are at 50%.
Also, re: Topspin, could maybe an option be set to have it optional for built-in bonus for Defender mode?

Nadal hits MUCH flatter with his two-handed backhand than with his forehand! :?

@Everybody :
Version update & new changelog topic here :
https://www.managames.com/Forum/ftopic1711.php

About the Topspin, 2 things :
1- there was a big nasty bug that was leading to sometimes hit the topspin strike at 130km/h instead of 105km/h (with topspin at 100% & power at 100%), so I fixed this one
2- I lowered the max topspin on topspin strike by 10% and on acceleration by 7%

Hopefully, with both of this, the 100% topspin players should be playable without being over annoying.
And don't forget that in real life, Nadal & other clay specialist can put huge amount of topspin...
Play them on fast surfaces if they annoy u too much... :P

@Togtdaylttai :
Let me know if the new topspin settings are ok with u...

And btaylor is right. 2H-BH is not good to put a lot of topspin.
A lot of the clay kings of the past had a 1H-BH : Muster, Costa, Mantilla, Corretja, Gaudio, Kuerten... (the last 2 ones didn't put insane amount of spin though)

@Tscott415 :
I'd consider to cap the power at 80 or 90% for online games if there are enough players thinking it'd be a good solution.

@jenks10s :
Thanks for the player list, I updated them..! :)

@vaidisova :
I found an easy way to add a few double faults for the CPU, so u should see some now..! ;)

@Guest :
You're welcome to post the outfit code for Chanda Rubin in this topic :
https://www.managames.com/Forum/ftopic1685.php

@YoYo_BzH :
Petit oubli de la doc : les points sont divisés par 2 pour les tours de qualifs; de plus, on gagne moins de points dans les niveaux de difficulté élevées...

@kyuuji :
Un peu de patience, j'ai 15 milliards de trucs à faire... :?

@Brad1981 :
If you don't want to use the topspin effect, just do the normal strike, not the topspin strike, no need to mess up with the bonus... :?

I had more of a problem with the CPU using the extra topspin bonus actually...but back to the faster gameplay I said a while back. It was good, until I changed the camera from Scrolling to Constant Zoom. Then it seemed speeded up. Even if I switch it back to Scrolling, the effect stays...so perhaps it has to do with the Constant Zoom mode? Actually, when Constant Zoom was first implemented, this is really when I first noticed this issue if I recall correctly.

I too have a problem with the one dimensionality of the game. Every point is the same, played from behind the baseline. Coming to net is incredibly difficult, and putting any sort of variety on the ball is never advantageous.

I find 06 way more fun :s

Brad1981, I'm pretty sure u're victim of optical illusion, as I'm sure the camera doesn't have any effect on the gameplay...

oohzuzana, it's surely harder to volley in TE2009 than in TE2006, which is more realist, but it's surely not impossible to volley as well..! :)
Are u able to volley & win against the CPU in Pro difficulty ? If not, then u should practice a lot ; like on a real court, u need to sweat before to reach the top..! ;)
If u already beat the CPU, then it might be coz of the lag ; in this case, I guess I'd have to do something about the power, but now I have to wait for a consensus to raise about the online games before to decide what to do about this...
