I have download, but not tried the demo yet.

Had a quick questions though... I read that your career only lasts for 33 seasons... Is this correct...

Will the universe's career end then or will it continue to with new players and coaches... (ie. be limitless)

Anyone with answers to this.

Thks.

1stly for technical reasons... With "only" 33 years, I can load all the players in memory, so I didn't have to do a database management to load / unload the players, which allowed me to finish the game now and not in 2 or 3 months... :)
2ndly, the game is based on real life events, so the most interesting part is during the real years. The additional years are only the prolongation from the last real year (ie: 2007).

@Everybody :
From now on, if you face complex bugs, especially ones leading to a crash, please send me send me all of this :
"Tennis.ini" + "System.log" + all subfolder "Profiles" compressed in .zip or .rar , to my email .
It should help me to locate the bugs faster.

But I hope we already found the most of them..! :)

Hi there,

Just got a full copy yesterday, been playing with what seems to have been the second version posted on this forum - but have seen a problem (?) that hasn't been mentioned before.

I was playing in a tournament and the guy I was up against next had a ranking on the tournament knockout screen of around 400. When I saw his player screen before the match, it was around 200. In some cases this is the difference between the current year and current review, but as it's the first year shouldn't this be the same?

One other thing. I had qualified for a tournament and played in it and lost. I then moved onto a qualifying round for the following tournament in the qualifiers, I had a Q next to my name saying that I had, in effect qualified for the qualifiers.... didn't cause me any problems and only happened once just after I'd qualified for, and played in the previous tournament.

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but it's a bit strange.

I've been playing a looong career and there seem to be way too many tiebreaks that end with scores like 26-24, 39-37 and things like that. In real life you don't see so many tie breaks in which more than 12 points are played in total, but in the game it seems to be too common, at least in my experience.

No bugs to report now - just a few suggestions and several questions. (in no particular order)

When you create your initial player, you can change his birthday. I can only seem to do this properly by changing the month first and then the day. Could the cursor be set to alter the month by default? Just saves a few clicks.

The style of players - volleyer, power baseliner etc. Could there be somewhere in the help files something that tells you what each specialises in? eg - volleyer - you need to work particularly on your serving skills and net skills. Some - like puncher / counter etc - what are the main requirements to be good at those styles?

Similarly - which styles are likely to be good on which surfaces? Presumably volleyers will be better on faster surfaces, and defenders will be better on slower ones? But what about the others?

What is the order of speed of the surfaces - grass = fastest, clay = slowest - but what is in between?

In the player training page, constancy should probably be called consistency (in English)

What physical training increases what skills? Some are obvious - body building increases strength, sprint increase speed. I use swimming to increase stamina, but what do footing and bicycle and yoga do?
Reflexes and tonicity seem to go up really easily - but I don't know why and how I do it!

What is top spin for? Which type of players will want it to be high and which will want it low?

The training facilities - what effect does building the courts actually have - because it doesn't tell you at the moment ?

When you create your coach initially - some of the specialities are somewhat vague - potential detection - where do I see that? Business - does that increase the value of contracts? Charisma - it says it increase the number of coaches that you can hire - how many is standard ?

In the contracts - what does free equipment give your player?

For the initial player special talents - what advantages does each one give?

I know there are a lot of questions there - but I feel that there are a lot of things there that you have to make decisions about without knowing the effects that those decisions have, so I think a lot of the answers to these should be in the help file. Or just answered here :lol:

Thanks Manu

@michaelwest777 :
>> ranking

it has been reported in the french topic, and fixed. (it was showing the best ranking between singles & doubles)

>> in effect qualified for the qualifiers

fixed..! :)

@lucho :
>> too many tiebreaks that end with scores like 26-24, 39-37

yup, it's possible there are too much of this.
I just raised a bit the stress after 9-9, let me know if it gives better results or not.

@Rob4590 :
>> No bugs to report now

yippee ! :P

>> birthday

fixed (but not in latest update)

>> The style of players

I'll try to write a detailed documentation about this, but maybe only in next May.
For now, just know that everything should be logical; example : puncher are power baseliners which go to the net after a few good strikes, thus they need better volley skills than power baseliners that just seldom finish the point at the net.
Counters use the power of their opponents (within a reasonable limit) for their own good.

>> which styles are likely to be good on which surfaces?

same, it should be logical... :)
The more on defensive, the better on slow surfaces, the more on attack, the better on fast surfaces.

>> speed of the surfaces

u can see all surface speeds by clicking on the courts to build in the coach center

>> constancy should probably be called consistency

humm, I use "constancy" coz it's not a technical skill, but really a mental skill, like everyday, u have the mental energy to go to play ur best tennis.
Just found this on wikipedia :
"In sport, consistency refers to a competitor's (or team's) ability to perform to a high standard on a regular basis."
So u might be right, I'm going to change it..! ;)

>> What physical training increases what skills?

just look which ones are raising when u click on "ok" for 20 hours of training, it should be almost easy to notice them..! :)

>> Reflexes and tonicity seem to go up really easily
>> - but I don't know why and how I do it!

some trainings have some light side effects that raise other skills than the main ones they're aiming at.

>> What is top spin for?

same as real life : better for defender, better on slow surfaces. It makes ur player tired slightly faster, and is a lot less useful on faster surfaces, so it's not so good for an attacker.

>> what effect does building the courts actually have

it gives u the possibility to train on the courts u have built. You can choose the current training court of each of ur players by clicking on "surfaces" in the training screen.
Going to a tournament being already trained on its surface is a sure advantage during the 1st rounds.

>> potential detection

the little blue smoke lines represent the potential of the players. You have no constraint on ur main player to see all his real potentials, but on other players, if you potential skill is too low, you'll see a wall of smoke instead of a line.

>> Business - does that increase the value of contracts?

yup, it does. The bonus is shown on the right.

>> Charisma

standard = 3 per players.
max = 3.75 per players; ie if u have 1 player, u can hire 3 trainers, but if you have 2 players, u can hire 7 trainers. Up to 15 trainers when u have 4 players.

>> what does free equipment give your player?

it gives free equipment... :P
U can see how much u're spending every week in equipment in the Accounting screen, reachable from the Sponsor screen.

>> For the initial player special talents
>> - what advantages does each one give?

read the description when u put the mouse on them...
Some give a bonus to your player's rally force, some other to ur player's service force, and hopefully, others should be very well explained... :)
Each bonus is quite small, but it can make the difference in a few matches of your career. (it's especially helpful when you start your career)

@Everybody :
Please, always play with the latest version, to be sure to not face bugs already corrected..!

===> New version, labelled Beta 1.0b :
https://www.managames.com/download.php?T ... r_ffbj.exe
(all links lead to the same file)

I have tuned a bit the player base. The main difference is that now Federer & Sampras should be a bit better (higher chance to finish #1 like in real life)

I also corrected a bug where you were forced to go to play qualif on the next tournament, when u registered for it, when u were playing on the 2nd week of a Grand Slam. (reported by email by Jippo)

Just one thing I noticed after loading the version in your previous post Manu. I'd created a profile in the main screen using the previous version, but it totally disappeared when I downloaded this version, so the saved game that I had also disappeared. Fortunately it wasn't a particularly long game, but just worth mentioning in case people have got a good game going - that they will probably lose it!

Another suggestion - on the player's training screen, you get a ranking position - could we have both the singles and doubles ranking shown on there, instead of just one of them?

One more little thing - I set up a new game and made it at master level. Went into my coaches page, and the level had defaulted back to junior, not staying at master.

Can I also just confirm the court speeds please?

Clay = slowest
Synthetic
Cement
Blue Green Cement
Indoor Hard
Indoor Carpet
Grass = fastest

Where does Indoor synthetic fit in? - because you can't build that type of court at the moment. Have I missed any others?

One more question - on the other players profiles, you can select them as your favourite doubles partner - what does this actually do? Because you can select a player as this even if you are playing doubles with a different partner. :?

Rather than edit my previous post for a third time, I'll post again.
Minor GUI bug - When you are playing a match, you have all the bonus icons at the top and the bottom of the screen. At the top, there are two icons with AC on them - the one further to the right should actually have SE on it, to match up with the icons at the bottom.

Hi there,

In my game Nottingham Intl Series tournament is being held in week 10.... now I know that week 10 on grass in the UK is impossible.... When is it actually?

Also on the calendar, the Intl Gold series event is played in Vienna, it is listed below the two Intl series events, kind of saying that is the less junior event.

One other comment: All the player qualities are all rather similar ie. they have an equally good forehand and backhand- Does this differ if I play it on the harder levels?

Indoor Synthetic: is this indoor carpet? There are soem tournaments listed as Indoor synthetic that are probably carpet: St Petersburg and Paris for example.
