Here is a match between me and Felipe. I was very lucky to have won this match. He repeatedly got out from facing two or more break points by wonderful serving. Amazing. He used a lot of lobs, which can be difficult to return. Also, he was very effective at using the drop shot after having gotten me into the back of the court. This tactic seems almost too effective, but I think that my mistake is that I need to move forward some after I run back to return a serve or another strike; so, perhaps I am just staying too far back.

I don't understand how many players, from the videos that have been posted, can stand where they do for return of serve and still return almost everything. Many of these players stand much more toward the center of the court (some almost down the middle) and pretty far forward, and yet they return even the wide serves. How??? Is it because they are all playing as women? They aren't shuffling prior to return, so I guess they could be even faster if they were to do that. With this player, I had to stand pretty far back to return his serve, but I don't think that I could have stood nearer to the center and been as effective.

It looks like you're playing with the tallest male possible, or close to that. The shorter you are, you're a little quicker and faster. Being taller gives you a longer reach, which I think is only useful for net players. The reason people play as females is because they can be shorter than males.

As for Felipe's returns, it looks like he's cheating to the middle on the Deuce side to protect against your lefty accelerated slice serve, which is the toughest serve to return. I do the same, but he's over too much, IMO.

There's also a play I've seen a few guys do online... they stand near the service T, and immediately run wide once the ball is hit. This allows the returner to have more acceleration for reaching wide serves, and they're positioned well enough to return a serve hit down the middle if they react quick enough. Arguably cheesy, but I don't think it's beneficial.

Here it's my match against Silvio Moine in the final of MS Paris 2009, my second season on World Tour.
It was at master sublevel 8. I made almost 50 aces and 20 double faults (I had a very very big problem when I was serving for the match 5-3 up).

I won 7-6 (10), 7-6 (2) in almost 40 minutes.

Well we said we would try out some lobs etc and we did .But in the end i won .i dint expect to win and that too with tat score lol he just wasnt into the match and made a lot of errors
