btaylor,

could you try to set RefreshRate to 75hz with the Build 29 ?
Also, could you turn on the FPS display to see it's always 60 Fps as it should, or goes lower after 1 set ..? ("Draw Fps" is in "Misc Options" after have turned on the "Advanced Options")

Hi Manu,

Here's what I found out....

I did like you said and changed the refresh rate to 75 hz, then turned on the Fps display and launched the game...
Like before, the 1st set goes perfectly and the Fps rate fluctuates rapidly back & forth between 59.2 & 62.5...

Now, if I quit the game and then start a new set, the Fps rate is ok as long as a point is being played...
However, in between points when I'm either preparing to serve OR waiting to receive serve, the Fps rate drops and then toggles back & forth between 42.3 & 52.5 or so, sometimes it even hits 30 or so on the low end while it is toggling...
Of course, when it toggles on the low end is when the problem appears, with the slower, jerkier movements...

I did the same experiment with build #27 and the Fps rates ALWAYS stay constant between 59.2 & 62.5 and my player's movement is fine...

No, Manu...I've not started recording matches yet, so nothing's been changed in that regard...
Nice try, though... 8-)

I guess no one else is having this problem?

btaylor, I did a quick try with my current development version, using 2 games / set to quicken the test, and I'm always getting around 1200 fps during serve preparation, and ~1000 fps during the rallies (yes, my PC is slightly newer than yours, so I had to unleash the 60-fps cap :P ). So as expected, the fps rate is lower during the rallies...

If you open the menus before the end of the set, does it lower the fps afterward ?

Ha-Ha Manu, 8-)

Anyway...When I pause the game and return to the "in game menu" the Fps drops down to +/- 45 or so....then when I return to the game the Fps goes back up to around +/- 60 and stays there...
If I default the game and then start another, then the Fps is ok only during the rallies...

If I totally exit back to my desktop screen, then go to the game from there, Fps is fine during the 1st set (until I pause the game... when it drops)
In other words, it's the same cycle...

Now, when I go through the same procedure with build #27 even though the Fps drops slightly when I'm in the menus, it ALWAYS resets to +/- 60 and holds steady (even while serving or receiving)

Incidently, when I pause the game in #29 the Fps drops slightly lower than when I pause it in #27...

ManuTOO, thanks for this incredible tennis game! I play Tennis Elbow since the first version, and now I pretend to play tennis in real life!

It's too hard to make an translation? I was thinking about translate Tennis Elbow to Portuguese language... I don't know if you have many brazilian or portuguese players, but.. :D

Thanks again!

btaylor, are u playing in windowed or fullscreen mode ? Could you try to switch ?

Sim Brothers, someone already said he would translate to Portuguese Br, but I didn't have any news since a lil while, so I don't know how it goes...

Manu,

How do I tell what "mode" I'm playing in?
Do I go to the configuration window and uncheck the box that says "windowed"?
I thought that I'd been playing in "full screen"...
How do I tell?

btaylor,
windowed mode = can see the game window edges, either it's on a part of the screen or maximized
fullscreen = no window anymore, the game takes the whole screen

and yup, just uncheck the "window" box in the configuration utility before to launch the game to activate the fullscreen mode.
U can also change in the "Video" menu inside the game.

Hi Manu,

I tried turning windowed mode on and off with the same result (no change)
I also downloaded the newest version that you released today...unfortunately with the same situation occuring in exactly the same way... :(
I've been corresponding with S.Williamz and Togtdyalttai about eerily similar situations they were experiencing in the topic "Lag when offline"...
Tog seems to think that it may have something to do with his Google Chrome browser, but it seems indecisive right now...
S.Williamz said that he noticed it when practicing offline in the warmup and we both wonder if it may have something to do with the new match recording/playback section since it seems to have cropped up only after it was added in the last build... :dontknow:

I can live with it by simply exiting back to my desktop after every set/match...like I said, once the point starts the fps rate returns to normal...so it doesn't matter so much when I'm serving...
The lag is most annoying though when I'm receiving serve, as it affects my player's "reflexes" the most then... :?

btaylor,
I just updated the game... Could u try this latest version (Build = 30-2009.03.24), there's low chance it'll work better, but as I changed the optimization options, it may do some changes...

Also, could u try to learn how to record & replay your match, and thus, see if the jerkiness happens again on replay, at the same moment..?

btaylor,
I just tested on my EEE laptop ( = quite low hardware for nowadays), and it went fine, nothing special happened at start of 2nd set (although, it jerks a bit now and then since the 1st set).
If you still have music on, could u try to turn it off ?

Hi Manu,

I usually play with the music off... :|
The fps didn't drop any for you at the start of the 2nd set?

How about when you are waiting to receive serve?
Does it drop then, but pick back up once you get into the point?
