New Features :
- New Service Style : a service animation created by emmainf, thanks to him !
- Modding : it is now possible to indicate the 2D court texture is of 16:9 ratio (1)

Changes :
- Gameplay : safe slice shot is a bit longer & slower, so it's much easier to do a good passing shot out of it
- Gameplay : sliced volley is a bit shorter so it won't go out too much when a player has good volley skills
- AI : CPU now handles better short ball at the net, by either volleying them or stepping a bit farther from the bounce

Bug fixes :
- AI : CPU was sometimes deciding to smash, but was still using the volley animation
- World Tour : loading a different saved game was losing the current match score
- Animation : I did a bit of tuning about how the slice animation triggers, but it's very unsure it'll fix the slice animation problem some people meet while playing online

Notes :
(1)- Put "2dCourt16:9 = 1" under [Camera] in your Court.ini to use the 16:9 ratio ; put "2dCourt16:9 = 1" under [Camera] in Tennis.ini if you want the 2D courts to be of 16:9 ratio by default (in this case, you can use "2dCourt16:9 = 0" in your Court.ini for your 16:10 courts) ; the screen ratio should change to 16:9 or 16:10, but I didn't test it, so let me know if you have any problem, and in case of problem, set the Aspect Ratio to 16:9 in the Video options (in that case, it should work, but 16:10 courts will get black side lines)

Build 112, January 3rd:

Changes :
- Gameplay : in some cases, the safe strike done while running forward will lead to a faster & longer ball that can end fault (1)
- Gameplay : racket reach has been slightly increased when running to the sides, to match the run animation that makes the player bends a bit forward
- Gameplay : defender style gets a better shoulder height acceleration, especially when charging long time, but it's still less good than the one of Power Baseliner and Puncher styles
- Gameplay : shoulder height bonus is now also applied to the short acceleration (2)
- Gameplay : short strike & short acceleration precision significantly enhanced when the opponent is at the net (3)
- Gameplay : volley jump reach has been lowered a bit on clay, especially for volleyer style
- Gameplay : volley acceleration & short acceleration difficulty significantly lowered (4)
- Gameplay : strike speed handicap on difficult ball for the acceleration & short acceleration slightly lowered when the consistency skill is high (5)
- AI : CPU handles better the situation when its opponent does a safe strike following by a net rush
- AI : CPU does slightly better passing shots (ie: it tries to aim farther from its opponent)
- AI : CPU covers a bit more its back when running back to the center (and a tiny bit less the opposite side), so it's a bit harder to wrong-foot it
- AI : CPU lobs less often, except if its opponent is very close of the net

Notes :
(1)- it's a kind of big change, let me know if it leads to some bad side effects or exploits ; the effect is smaller when reaching for a dropshot, but it can still happen
(2)- although, it might be not much helpful, except in some rare cases on clay, and maybe on some 1H-backhand passing shots
(3)- so now, when you're correctly positioned, the precision of these strikes is the best one (by a very small amount, though), but when mispositioned the normal strike & acceleration usually still produce a better result
(4)- hopefully, that should compensate for the better passing shots
(5)- it means if you hit inside the Danger Zone, you'll get 2 or 3 km/h less slow strikes

Great job Manutoo. It seems like good. Players who have only volleys (with safe shot, of course) will must learn something else in their own gameplay.

I think the new update favors baseliner too much. (defender bigger acceleration, bigger short angled acceleration. easier to position urself for short-angled passing shots) Don't mistake me. I am not a great volleyer. The update actually helps me a bit. I am just saying to help volleyers voice out. I tested a few games and passing shot is a lot easier now. I have never made b1+b2+up passing shot that well but ridiculously I just made two gd short acceleration in one set with the new update. One of the shots b1+up I totally mis-positioned myself but it still goes green light (little bit wide) but not red light.

There is of coz compensation but I don't think great volleyer on tour uses b1+b2 that much. They usually do b2 (or no button safe shot) to jump at net and b1 to finish pt.

Of course volleying should be reduced on clay since I heard there are many volleying RG finals these years. For me clay is about defending. But on other surfaces I think this update may negatively impacts great volleyers' skills.

But yeh I guess it is not good to complain becoz everyone has different style and someone must feel this is better and someone must feel this is worse. But I am just saying there shouldn't big changes like this maybe. So no changes > changes. At least I don't hear many ppl complain of volleyers outside of clay.

I installed it and now I have a problem that I didn't have in the previous version.
In online matches I can't see the chat nor the "1st serve" and "2nd serve" line. Sometimes I can't even see the tiredness bar. Any advice to fix this?

I will reserve comment by trying this new version first but I wouldn't call some of those players spinners...e.g Voja and Sampreas

This looked like a well balanced update at first.
And it was. Better reach balanced by faster shots in risky situations (thanks, I think I advised something like that but I think it might have been better that shots were deeper, even if not faster). Better passings and less reach balanced by less dificulty at net.
Only downside is that I'm getting some long-outs from baseline, that I can't figure out why yet and weren't happening before. Probably a bug related to "running upwards while hitting a safe shot" change? Though it happens on horizontal movement.

Jonny: Sampreas a spinner Voja at least used to, don't know anymore.
Joker: "if you can't beat them, join them" (if you care to win). How many serve and volleyers are on top of the game? The closest we have is Federer, but he isn't a pure S&V player. Not even flat hitters actually hit flat.

Maybe its me, but I get the feeling it is easier to defend and harder to attack now. I get to more balls and so does my opponent. I also feel the ball a bit more "floaty" on some shots. I like the idea of being able to pass a bit easier...didn't have a chance to try yet.

A quick reminder,
the shoulder height acceleration bonus triggers only on high balls, which means usually it happens only on slow surfaces (ie: Clay & NewLine Synthetic) against heavy spinners. In all other cases, including against low-spinner on slow surfaces, it triggers rarely, only in a few cases.
Thus, the buff for the Defender main purpose is to avoid unending rallies on slow surfaces for spinner vs spinner matches. If you play with another style or another surface, you don't have to worry about that.

volleyers didn't use B1+B2 coz it was too unreliable, especially with Elite controls. Now, hopefully, it'll be better. My guess is that skilled volleyers will now finish the point right away on at least 50% of a-bit-high-&-not-too-fast balls.
On another hand, the passer has more chance to do low balls from the better precision, so the big question is to know if these 2 changes will get a decent balance with each other or not. (for unskilled volleyers, who only pushed the ball waiting for an error of the passer, the answer might be no... )

did you mod your game ? It sounds like some modding issues...
If not, try to reinstall everything.

Algo,
using the safe shot to catch a short strike (or a short accel) might end in a too long ball, coz even if you mostly run to the side to get it, you also run a bit forward. Maybe it's what you noticed ?

while running to the side, you get about 15cm coverage more than before. It's not a lot, but it surely lets you get a few more balls. Although hitting with the tip of the racket on the run will often lead to not so good shots.
It also affects returns if you do them while running (just look your player animation and where it's headed to know if you get the extra reach or not).
