CPU plays worse after winning the first set?

Postby Nicky Gi. » 16 Apr 2026, 23:13

Hello Manu, I’ve noticed that I struggle quite a lot in the first set and often lose it against the CPU on Pro 10 difficulty. However, I then go on to win the remaining sets comfortably, often by large margins like 6-2, 6-1, or even 6-0. It almost feels like the match becomes much easier after losing the first set.

Maybe it’s related to stamina, and the level of the CPU drops after the first set? My opponent had around 60% stamina. Still, going from losing the first set to completely dominating the next two feels very strange, especially since it happens quite often, not just occasionally. I noticed that in a lot of matches.

Typically, the first set is very close and I struggle a lot before losing it, and then I come back to win something like 6-2, 6-0 in the next two sets.

Is this normal or not?

Hello,

it's normal that the CPU level isn't constant throughout the match. It's a bit strange that you notice he's always stronger in the 1st set and not the 2nd.

The next time it happens, could you send me a Bug Report at the end of the match ? (HowTo => topic5-31732.php )

You can also check his skills in the Player Statistics screen, and see if they change over the sets.

I've noticed the same thing since I got the game. It's hard to know if it's just me having trouble getting a good start to a match or if it's a bug in the game. I'll send you a report if I notice it again.

I sent you a bug report. I notice this happens with low rated players more often. They play well in the first set, I lose it and the I easily win the next two.

I played another match against Federer today and got destroyed, I lost all of the 3 sets so maybe it only happens with low ranked players.

Nicky Gi.,
I got your Bug Report but it's a resumed match, so I can see only from the 4th set.

At that point, your opponent was tired and stressed, so I guess it could be the reason he wasn't that great anymore, and there your opponent even won the 3rd set, so it's really not a 1st-vs-next-sets issue, and overall in this case, it looks realistic enough.

If you have a clearer-cut example, don't hesitate to send me a Bug Report again, preferably not for a resumed match, so I can check the whole match... Or maybe the CPU-level drop when you resume a match? If so, you could send me a Bug Report right before leaving the match, and then again after having resumed it.

Nicky Gi.,
I got your Bug Report :
Hello manu, on this match I resumed the game after having won the first set. The level of my opponent dropped a lot compared to the first set. Maybe it's a bug, maybe it's nothing. Can you look into it? I did not send a bug report from the first set though.

You won 6/4 6/2 : this is something that is completely normal. I'm looking for a 1st lost 4/6 or worse, and 2 next sets won easily (6/2, 1 or 0). This is something that can happen sometimes, but if it happens every time you go on a match, that's likely the symptom of an issue.
