I didn't manage, unfortunately, as my friend couldn't make it. Good to hear it's not just me, though.

I'll keep an eye for the update, then, and retry once it's out. I'll let you know if it works.

(Funnily enough, for some reason I seem to play better on PC, with the same gameplay settings. On Xbox I could rarely win a match on Pro 5, now on PC I won even at Pro 10. Maybe it's just me being closer to the screen... :) )

You might have input lag on your TV. If not already done, check if it has a game mode, and if yes, activate it when you play games. :yes:

I had no idea about that, thanks for the tip! I thought that my being much worse at videogames than when I was little was just a matter of growing old... good to know that it might be just part of the explanation ;)

Quick update: the latest update does not seem to have fixed the desynchronisation issue :/

Ah, damn... :sweat:
I'll try to look more into that once the PlayStation port will be done.
Were you able to try an unmodded online match ?

Not yet, I'll try to do some more systematic testing this weekend and let you know.

Actually, scratch that. Tonight it worked. I tested both in an epic game against myself (Steam vs Xbox) and with two remote players (one hosted by myself, one hosted by the other player). In the one hosted by myself with a remote player there was a desynchronisation message right at the beginning, but then it ran smoothly. The only differences I noticed are that on the Xbox I got a message during the connection test that I hadn't noticed before (something about punching through something--sorry, forgot the details :' ), and the two remote players had a very low ping, around 50ms, while typically I find players with higher pings.

Good news ! :)

If you notice a pattern leading to the desync, let me know.

dimcoe,
I think this morning I might have found the source of your desyncs : when there's a match saved in a Training Club and you host the online match, then it's possible to get desync all the times.
Do you remember if it was your setup ? (ie: you didn't join someone else but always hosted ; of course, if you joined someone who had a saved match, you could get the issue as well :blackeye: )

Hey,

I mostly saw the problem when hosting, indeed, and it may well be the case that I had a match saved in Training Club. In the beginning I didn't realise I could play while waiting, so did not have matches saved, while later on I almost always had an ongoing match there. Since the problem seemed to get worse with time, that may be the reason. I more rarely joined matches, but had issues with desyncs then as well. Another idea that came to mind is whether the Xbox 'Quick Resume' option has something to do with it.

I haven't been playing much online lately as I am very much engrossed in a 2021 World Tour season with a young Sinner (and so far I tend to be regularly trounced online--I seem to have more issues with timing strikes right, probably because the opponents hit faster than the Pro-10 AI I'm used to), but will keep an eye on this when I come back to that.

On a different note, I noticed that on the World Tour sometimes the day of the week seems a bit odd in relation to the stage of the tournament, like second round matches on Thursday and things like that.

On a yet different note, I've watched some recent videos about the current TE4 competitors, and that brought to mind (once again!) how amazing it is that you've single-handedly succeeded in doing something big studios with big money failed terribly at all these years: creating a great, true-to-life tennis game :)

For a 32-draw tournament, rounds are :
1st = Monday & Tuesday
2nd = Wednesday & Thursday
QF = Friday
SF = Saturday
F = Sunday

And thanks. :)

Re: Desynchronisations in series

Hi Manu. I also play TE4 on Xbox Series X. Does having a saved match in the training club still cause continuous desync when hosting an online match?

By the way, I had XKT, stef scoreboards, and ball shadow mods installed and I was having desync when hosting an online match. However, whenever I joined an online match, I didn’t have any issues whatsoever. So I decided to uninstall the mods and only keep XKT although I was not convinced because the other two mods are only cosmetics.

Please advise and congratulations on TE4 by the way.

EH008,
hopefully, it's fixed ; I didn't have any report about that for a long time, except when playing a Competitive Doubles (but not a Coop Doubles), but after investigation it seems it's not linked to the saved match.

Another user reported that playing while hosting and waiting for an opponent to join could create desync. Is it what you have experienced ?

Hi Manu. I am not sure what is causing desync when hosting. Further games and testing is needed. I will keep you posted.

Do you think that having the stef scoreboards mod or the ball shadow mod can cause desync when hosting?
