Will not recommend TE4

Postby enclat » 05 Aug 2022, 10:39

I'm very sorry, but TE4 don't feel like an upgrade. It's TE2013 but worse. AI is worse than before, it feels unfair, like all the oponents were dopped af. Also my player with 90+ in FH and BH skills don't stop making errors, like missing the ball or shooting straight to the net again and again. And don't justify that is realistic, because I can't play like Nadal because my player with almost 99 in shooting can't make a decent shot if the opponent's ball doesn't come slow and easy, how realistic is that? And doubles is broken, my partner refuses to move even when the ball comes to their side. I regret to buy TE4, I'll just go back to TE2013. And please, AI BH slice is faster than acceleration itself, I'm very disappointed with this game.

Hello,

I'm sorry you don't enjoy TE4.

Let me try to help you.

1) If the AI is too hard for you, just lower its difficulty level. At what difficulty are you currently playing ?

2) If you make too many errors, it means you're not correctly positioned on the ball ; if you have disabled the Danger Zone, turn it back on as it's very helpful to learn how to position yourself.
Alternatively or additionally, you can change your player controls from Simulation to Arcade.
However, if you don't prepare your strikes early enough, they'll always have a chance to end in the net.
How long have you been played TE4 so far ?

3) If you ever play a doubles match again, and your opponent doesn't react to a ball going to him, please send me a Bug Report right away, I'll fix that. (HowTo => topic5-31732.php )

4) With 100% in all skills, at Pro-10 level : the max slice speed is around 113km/h with the Slice talent, and 103km/h without the slice talent ; decent accelerations start at 125km/h and can go up to 180km/h.
However, it's true that some slices are just too good, so I'll likely tune these a bit down in the future.

5) Overall, as you might have noticed, the game is still in construction, so things will change from user feedback, like yours..!

Hello, what you say is very strange to me, I have played 15 hours (and 300 hours in TE3) but nothing what you say has ever happened to me.
I am testing the TE4 patch after patch and I must say that it feels better and better.
For me the AI plays well, the rallies feel the same (or better) than TE3. I also wouldn't recommend TE4 to someone new, not now, I'd wait for version 1.0 in that case. To my friends who have asked me, I always explained them correctly and I recommend starting with TE3 since it is the basis of the principle of TE4.

In any case, everyone has their own opinion about the game, but I find it very unfortunate knowing that we are facing early access, so I do not deny the problems that arise or defects in the animations, all this will improve I have no doubt .

Gusbaldo,
1) Did you feel the latest version improved the animation ?
I think I fixed the last 2 main issues. (there are still 2 little issues in the current version, but they are more rare, and I already fixed them for the next update)

2) Would you feel more comfortable recommending TE4 in its current state if it had a Tutorial ?

Hello Manutoo!

1 I really see much better, they flow well. Recently I have noticed some failures when making a volley moving towards the net, that is, going forward not laterally. But on other hits during rallies I didn't notice any problems. :applause:

2 A tutorial is always a great help, even more so for those who are used to arcade-style tennis games. In this case, it would mainly be very important to explain about positioning to achieve good contact upon impact.
But beyond this, the people who have consulted me for both TE3 and TE4 generally know that the game has very good reviews about the gameplay and the world tour, but they come into doubt first of all because of how the game looks no matter how it feels to play it. It is true that in this new version you have advanced a lot in graphic quality and lighting, I even see the player editor with great attractive potential. But they also expect things like animated transitions, replays like on TV, hawk eye, they are things that they tell me, people expect AAA mostly.

In short, I meant that I would recommend starting with version 1.0 to someone who has never played since I imagine that it will be much more stable in general aspects so that they will not be frustrated by some error or bug. And yes a tutorial asking if this is your first time at Tennis Elbow would be very appropriate.

Gusbaldo,
1) If you still notice issues like this with the next update (coming in a couple of days, I guess), please send me a Bug Report right when it happens (HowTo => topic5-31732.php )

2) Unfortunately, TE4 won't be a AAA game, but I hope to bring some of these features in it ; maybe some will come after the v1.0, though. :)

Ok if I see any problem in the next update I will report it.
I have no doubt that TE4 will be a great game with great features beyond not being AAA. :applause:

I am not sure what a AAA game is as I've never seen one. But I can tell you that TE4 is A+. Does it have all the bells and whistles of other games? No...but what it has that far exceeds any other game is A+ gameplay. Thanks manutoo!
