Would be cool if there will be a chat function between the sets in online mode.
As there is only the button "ok" to continue but imo its better if you could chat there as well.

One of the main reasons I got this game is that I can play it using First Person Camera (named 'Subjective' in TE 2013).

Unfortunately when I move backwards, or when sudden stopping, this character has the habit of raising the racket in front of his eyes and keep it there, which makes me guessing where the ball must be.
I think a major improvement of the game is making the character to move the racket more sideways, so we can still see what's in front of us (hopefully the ball).

Looking forward to this change, as it keeps frustrating me sometimes when I loose points because I can't see for a second or two where the ball is.

Also I feel the character moves a bit slow front-back or diagonally front-left or front-right, but it may be just my impression.
I changed the speed of the character in .ini file and took some speed, but only when moving side to side.
Anyway, this is something I will adapt on, by reacting faster to short cross hits.

Hope this helps building even a better game than it already is (a great game).

I know what im about to say its a little too ambitious but please read:

im crazy about tennis but im a nba fan as well and i play as much TE as nba2k14.
And i think it would be really good if manutoo could check that game out if he hasnt played it yet.
Why? because ive never seen a game where each and every player is as customize as they did in theere.
just considering the 30 nba teams with their 15 player by rosters and doing the math thats 450 players.
All of those are perfectly done... so its not impossible to do the same with 450 TE players with a community like this one..
BUT what we really need to make this easier is to being able to edit all the greatest editable things of any player in a great "edit a player" system/mode whatever you call it.
Why on earth we have to go outside the game and open .ini files and start writing commands to put their right outfit, or edit how many time does the player take or bounce the ball before serving, etc.??
I think you should be able to do way more many things from inside the game and lot less from outside..

Also i would like to point out lot of great things the nba game has that could also apply for TE:

- Gear & Shoes: the possibilities to add gear to different body parts are way too many... you can place a wristband close to the wrist or closer to the elbow, also you can edit each arm separately. // you can place the logo headband looking to the front or the back or to one side...// you can have also 2 different accesories in the same arm (for example in TE: wristband + watch would be cool)
You can place gear in the legs...nowadays lot of tennis players wears those pads in their legs or knees. And also it would be perfect to be able to select the size of the socks, nosocks/low socks/ normal / high socks, etcs.

-Playing styles: i dont know if 4 playing styles includes all the accurate playing styles. it would be cool to have more possibilities ( here really interesting thread: http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=58284 )or combinations( being able to select two playing styles or something in between of one or the other)-

- Signature Skills: things that some players may have that makes them have an atribbute boost in specific situations..here are a few ideas...maybe a boost for players that play in their own country or play Davis cup / or a boost for a player that is great coming from 2 sets down / or a flashyshot skill for players that allows some players to execute wow magic shots with more accuracy / or a super powerfull last strike when you are running out of air and just strike a win-loose shot / or a sigskill for a soft touch at the net / or special skill for lobs , or for passings, or for tenacity / or those cold blooded, motivation , gs champion skills that are somewhere hidden in the .ini file !!
It could also be interesting to make some "flaws" also not only good skills but also bad ones, for guys that play really bad under pressure at home, or when they serve for a set or match, etc. Instead of boosts some attributes decreases in those cases.
Also in the edit player it would be nice to pick from inside the game the favourite court for every player. and maybe playing in their fav court could boost the atributes as well -

- Tendencies: i think this doesnt sound easy, but it would be really cool to some how edit a little bit the players tendencies, not only in service (some players serve a lot more down to the T than wide open) but also in rallies there are players like JMDP that rarely execute a down the line backhand to the opp forehand...

-Signature shots: this is pretty well done in TE but i think we can have more options not just forehand, slice forehand, backhand, slice bakchand, volleys... but to create a few more like a running risk stroke that allows you to take a last shot draining all your energy, or a defensive one that allows you to get one step further like the one megy made for rafa.
Also it would be nice to create some running-walking animation for the players movement. please manutoo just create options and then the community will fill the blanks but leave great options.

Cheers

Re: What do you think TE4 should change/have/improve?

Postby dragos.ciobanescu » 26 Jan 2014, 08:44

Hi again,

I would like to add at my previous post few more changes.

Character's back movement should be changed, in case the player is at the net (let's say between service line and the net).
The actual steps used by player when going backwards in this case is used in reality I guess only by the novices. If the player is a right handed, he/she should turn sideways (left shoulder towards the net, however still looking at the ball, of course) and step crossover with the left foot over the right one. And of course this way will run faster than he does in TE 2013. I think this is a major improvement in movement, allowing the player not to be lobbed so easily.
It might be helpful a change of the controls behavior when the player is lobbed. Now, because the player looks up to the sky (and to the ball, which is fine), I loose sense of my position on the field, so I can't position myself under the ball correctly using the controls (which I would normally do in real life). That is why my proposal is that when lobbed and I press backwards key only, the player to go back and automatically move left or right as much as needed to position under the ball.

Many thanks for considering my opinion.

I am adding my support to teisinho with regards to feature of modeling character playing skills and styles from within the game and less using the .ini file.

For example, I am trying to model a friend of mine behavior. He strikes with his backhand slice in 70% of the normal cases, and in 100% of the cases when answering a fast ball (let's say over 80 km/h) or a hard to reach one. Probably this setup is somewhere hidden in an .ini file, or some player setup file, but it would be excellent if I would be able to set something like that directly from the game.

Best of success

man i've been playing this game for years now.. there's not even that much i'd like to see differently. All i'm hoping for is that this game won't stop evolving. I play every fuckin day! lol

What i'd love to see the most:

Custom tournament, meaning i simply create my own tournament, with any court i have in my pak01, with my own made players and set up the entire ranking system all by myself. And set up for 128 players, or 64, 16, 8 blabla. And creating a group like they do the WTF in London aswell. That would be awesome.

Some new animations wouldn't be too bad. Return anims for example, i'm kinda missing those. We got a lot of talent in the anims section. Would be dope! I'd also love to see a Federer kind of going around the backhand anim, smashing his forehand down the line and killing his opponent with that shot.

Lastly, i'd say i'm kinda missing the really hard shots. Like you know how Nadal does that, out of nowhere he blows a forehand/backhand down the line or crosscourt, simply stunning his opponent and ending the point. That'd be fuckin crazy! i don't care if i'm playing them and they do it to me lol, would make me excited to be honest. You'll need to be more tactical and not give your opponent a chance to do a shot like that.

Sounds like i'm asking for a lot. But i think it's possible, in some ways, right?

Anyways, i love this game to death.

Yes it will be cool to be able to edit for example the tendencie of a player to avoid his backhand and strike with his forehand. or how often they use the slice, or how often do they risk the 2nd service...things like that

Hi, I am new here, but I play TE a little bit longer, my suggestions are:

1) I don't know it is possible, but DRIVE VOLLEY (not only classic volley) can be a big step forward,

2) Again, don't know this is possible, but when someone try to hit lob, and it's close to the baseline, it shouldn't be possible to hit an almost perfect smatch in the corner for a player who has to make some steps backward - maybe good solution is making this hit less precise for that good lobs, when i write less i think even circle with 3-4 m diameter of random ball placement .

What is a norm in real playing, even best players (murray, federer, nadal djokovic, williams, sharapova, azarenka etc) when they are hiting the smatch with some steps backward they are hitting on the center, and even outs, of course sometimes they hitting close to the line, but it's often a little bit of lack.

3) Some players here suggest making an advantage for better players like Djokovic or Federer - I don't agree with that opinion, cause in the game, screen player always just representing us, so realistic shouldn't be understand as a "using better machine" I think.

4) I want to say, that gameplay is really well, and there shouldn't be any changes for better graphic which can make it even a little slowlier. The graphic in TE 2013 (generally - i mean running, hitting, camera, judges etc) is enough good.

The thing which can be improved in graphic, without worse speed of working game, is a menu, with every single element - score table, statistics table, first menu, tiredness menu etc. I hope I can show my proposition of it, don't know how to show You a pictures here as a new user.

One thing that I think it would be nice is to have the possibility to customize the "Victory" screen for each tournament. I don't even know if this is currently possible through editing .menu files. I looked into some files but didn't find anything (and there are tons of them). But anyway, it would be nice if we could change it through Tour.ATP, just like we do with courts.

Should incorporate defensive shots. Look this:

In Argentina call this "Gran Willy"

Federer shoot this too

And Nadal...

Another suggestion I thought today.
It could be possible to "evolve" the tournaments in the world tour during the years of your career, just like it happens with players. I mean, Rafael Nadal in 2002 was a whole different player from what he is now. Likewise, the tournaments were different at that time. I guess it improves realism if we could define dynamic parameters for tournaments too.

For example:
Memphis was ATP500 last year, now it is ATP250. It would be nice to map these changes through the years. I'm starting a career in year 2003, but I'm playing with 2013 tournaments :D
