Hello,
ELO is a let's say system for evaluation. It's used in chess.
You begin with ELO of 1000.The most common cases are:
-when you win, you add points to the initial 1000.
-when you lose, points are being taken from you.
The stronger the oponent, the higher the ELO and vise versa.
If you have ELO of 1000 and beat someone with ELO of 1000 you get 5 points.(all numbers in the post are examples)
When you beat s.o. with ELO of 1500 and yours is 1000 you get 25 points. If your oponents ELO is 2000 you get 50 points, meaning the stronger the oponent is, if you beat him, the more points you get.
But if a player has 2000 and beats a player with ELO of 1000 with 6-4 he might actually lose points, cause it is not a common thing for a really strong player to be that troubled by such a player.
...any particular questions?
