apologies i'm new to playing tennis elbow 4 and am trying to figure out how to play online against other players. I chose online and lan but it just freezes on me. do i need to use steam or discord to play online? I'm currently have the game installed on a mac.

Hello,

click on Training Club -> Online & Lan -> Join Game -> Find Internet games ; if you're lucky then someone will be hosting a game waiting for you.

If the game hangs when you click on Online & Lan, maybe it means the firewall is asking you if you want to let TE4 use the Internet. Alt+tab to see if there's a pop-up somewhere and accept the request.

The online mode works the same on the Steam & managames.com versions.

The Discord server can be useful to look for an opponent.

In-game, it's the same for Windows & Mac.

For the pop-up from your firewall, I don't know how it works on Mac ; but it can happen like this on Windows.

thanks, I have not been able to get this to work online on my mac. i don't use Steam. I guess it's ok because honestly I'm probably not good enough to play online against other players yet. Can't beat Joker junior level 5 yet LOL.

One thing to try if you didn't already did like that : run the game Windowed instead of Fullscreen, so if there's actually a pop-up, you might see it more easily.

Or after it hangs, kill the TE4 task, and then send me your Player.log : topic5-31732.php . I'll check it to see if there's any hint about the issue.

I actually tried that, there was no pop up. i also tried to turn on my wifi (using ethernet) i was able to see some matches available online but then it frooze. By the way I'm not using any mods yet. I'll send the player log. thanks.

** edit ** noticed this from the log file
No updater definition found on remote server. The Launcher update will be skipped. Problem reference: The URL https://www.managames.com/Files/TE4/Mac ... index.json generated an exception.

just tried it again with the 2.0b mod and the same thing happened. i give up

The launcher is TE4-Launcher ; it doesn't need to be updated so there's no "updater definition found on remote server" ; it's completely unrelated to your issue. Please send me the player.log so I'll check if I can find anything relevant in it.

The log says that your last action was to click on "Join Game". Is it correct ? Does it hang when you click on this button ? You do not see the next menu ?

yes. but i have to be quick to even get that far. if i don't click on anything it will just hang when i click on online and Lan. a message will pop up. The name you chose is similar to an existing name, so it has been changed. there are 2 options below, to host game or join game, i cant choose either because at this point its also frozen.

Sorry, I carefully checked the log and the code around it, and couldn't find any reason for this freeze...

very strange, i can't believe i am the only one with an iMAC that can't play online be great if someone with a mac computer can confirm if they can play online.

I just tested on my Mac to be sure the online mode was still working as intended, and here the pop-up I got (the game was in fullscreen) :

(except it showed "Tennis Elbow 4" instead of "Google Chrome" )

Do you remember if you ever saw it, and if you clicked "Allow" or "Deny" ?

Check the settings of your firewall for TE4 may bring some help...

Apologies, never saw this reply. never got that message. i believe i tried to manually grant the program full disk access at some point but that did not work either. i also just tried to do it via Steam and it freezes there as well. i'm currently not playing the game through Steam, I'm playing it directly from my MAC. Great game BTW, better than any tennnis console game out there.

BTW, Firewall on the mac is turned off by default. it says all incoming connections are allowed. ugh

so i just turned on my firewall to see if I would get the message and I did but it still frooze. i went back and turned off my firewall since it was off to begin with and now I always get the message, I choose allow and then after a few seconds it freezes. i guess we are making progress since now i'm actually getting the message by toggling my FW on and off. I wonder if maybe I need to do something in my router settings?
