What is this -- give up of point?

ManuTOO,

There was some odd lag in this match, but I don't understand this point. The player was moving into position to strike the ball, and I think that he was in position at the end, but instead of hitting the ball, he returned to the ready position and just stood there while the ball went by him:

This happens at Game 5, 15 30 (scoreboard shows 4-0 game count, 30-15, guy in black serving). Attached is the .dmo file of the match. It is like someone pulling a gun on you to shoot you and keep you from shooting them, pointing it at you, putting their finger on the trigger, pulling the trigger a bit, and then holstering their gun, smiling at you, and taking the bullet from your gun with no resistance. Strange. :) What is this?

Looking at this again, maybe the player was just short of returning the ball? It seemed at first that he was in position to hit it, but I may have been wrong. I thought he was at least close enough to finish the swing and maybe hit the ball with the racket frame. Is there anything unusual here?

It didn't look like he was in position to hit it to me.

OK. I just didn't realize that the swing action would start, with the player running to the ball, but then stop and return to the ready position without the swing continuing. Is there never an "auto jump" when someone is running into a strike from the baseline but is just a little short?
