Lagging

Postby Charlie_2009 » 07 May 2009, 19:56

Just played someone who ask me "Could we play without cheating?" Iasked what he ment - and he said some players cant win without lagging and ment by this that I am a cheater.

I thought that lagging has to do with whether you have a good connection or not and from what I know that even if I have a good coonection it is not always that it will be good - it depends also on the internet itself and how the connections is really beeing made and of course also on your opponents connection. Am I completly wrong or am I missing someting here?? If so I would like to know from someone, perhaps Manatoo what I may be doing wrong as I dont like to be called a Cheater.

The biggest reason for lag is the distance of the players. My connection isn't the greatest... but, I usually have sub-100 pings with everyone from the Americas, but struggle vs. Europeans (which unfortunately, are where most players in this game are from.)

There's always going to be people that are suggesting you're cheating. Especially when there's desynchs where the player usually see themselves winning the point. They just don't understand. Don't take it personally.

I think the lag problem has gotten worse in the last several months...........The older version of this game (2006) as for me didnt happen that much. Ive played some who have pings BELOW 100 that seem to go in slow motion.........I guess its another problem that will hopefully be fixed.

I don't have problem in at least 80% of my online games, either with low or high ping (as long as it's not above 250ms).
But sometimes, the ping is very changing, and thus the lag set at beginning of the match isn't high enough, and thus, we get many slowness... Usually, it means the connection of one of the 2 players is bad (ie: have some downloading program in the background, or just plain bad unstable connection)

Thank you all for your answers - at least I dont feel stupid anymore or made something wrong. Hope that Internet itself will improve over time thus making lags a minor problem.
Have good online games everybody.

Best regards from Sweden and Charlie, especially to Leena who I with much fun read all your comments on the Forum - they are sometimes very funny - I think you are a fun and cool person.

This may be the wrong post for this, but I guess that it has to do with lag, and I know that ManuTOO will probably say that what I am observing can't be happening because of some formula, but the online serving and online aiming is much more sensitive now than offline. For instance, before the last update that changed this online lag thing, I was in the middle of a World Tour match with Wawrinka, and I could serve fairly well and aim the ball to the side lines pretty well. I have tried to beat him at this tournament probably 30 times, and I keep failing, but I just keep reloading to the same start of this match and trying again. Well, with this update, I have to hold the direction for a very long time to get close to the side lines, and it is almost impossible to hit the ball wide as it is so hard to even come close to this. The serve is also much different.

 :BeatDeadHorse:

Maybe I should completely uninstall the game and reinstall it if this is only happening with me.
