Issues of Online Doubles with Elite Controles

So there's a huge amount of nonsense in doubles with elite mode

1- Partners are just weirdos running around and doing crap all of the time. They push the ball out on some shorter passing shots constantly when trying to volley...if you repeat a certain pattern. Also if the partner lobs you basically have to run back like a headless chicken while in fair mode previously you could stop the smash with a safe strike - yes, that was unrealistic but this is just not fun at all...depending on your partner's idiotic decisions to lob. And often you can't really run back in time so you end up losing the point anyway.

2- Also, partners are extremely poor at returning specific kick serves on T and wide for some reason and everyone is abusing that which is also lame as all hell. I remember partners used to have similar issues when returning, what's the deal there? I'm sure we can get that fixed at least :P

3- There are more things like the ping pong at net with safe shots that partners do between each other until one of them hits out...I'm looking at it and wondering whether to cry or laugh...I even run there to try and join but my partner hugs the net and I cant hit the ball anyway so just let them do random safe strikes until one makes a random error  ...

When partners are doing this ping pong thing with safe strikes or generally volleying several times in a row they continuously move closer to the net which will also eventually lead to an error...They should hit a volley and slightly reposition by going backwards. They never do this. But that was also present in the past. And I don't understand that safe strike fiesta at the net between partners, the funniest thing you can see in this game

4- Furthermore, another random sequence...say my partner is at the baseline and I'm at the net...He has 0 spin yet sends loopy shots, why exactly? I want him to keep everything low over the net but he's a noob  If the opposing CPU partner intercepts this loopy shot he hits a strong bash volley into my player at the net and pressing a button or a safe strike almost never works and I hit an error (could be handled in fair mode in the past). So, it's like I'm supposed to pray that he doesn't send loopy crap to the opposing partner at the net because he might bang a big volley into me and my volley will be an error

But yeah...in general it's just weird. Not sure if it's better in fair mode...but some of these things were present a long time ago - safe strike ping pong between partners, bad handling of shorter passing shots by partners, and general randomness...Now there's more mess added to it and it's as chaotic as it can get.

I'm all for skill and tactics deciding the winner, but when there's such a large amount of randomness skill doesn't mean much.

Maybe it's time for 2 vs 2 human doubles :fear:

Yeah, some tips there too...but most of the best players know them I think ;)
Better to make doubles interesting and less buggy than have 70% of points decided by something similar to "random luck" :fear:

:thumbright:

Was 30-40% of points by random luck, now it's 70% and less room for actual skill

Who are you btw, "boss"?

Re: Issues of Online Doubles with Elite Controles

Stajus,
1- post a .dmo with such kind of lobs ; indicate on what scores it happens and I'll look into it

2- again => .dmo & scores

3- I'll see what I can do about that

4- It's likely when your partner doesn't have time to do a clean shot, he then produces a weaker one

Hey Manu, will record from now on...but the lob thing is literally any lob from the CPU partner when the human player is at net...you can't do anything. Running back you could get lucky to catch the smash (very unlikely still because the smash falls at your feet when you are trying to run back as fast as possible like a headless chicken)...standing at net you will hit an error. So, you can randomly lose a point at any time (and it could be an important point) just because your partner is lobbing like a fool. Previously this didn't matter as much because you could neutralise the smash in most cases by clever positioning and using the safe shot at the net to block them. If we could give the CPUs an order when to lob or something like that and when to stay at the baseline or come to the net, that would be really cool  That's 2 extra commands I guess. The AI isn't good enough for them to be making decisions in my opinion

So:

1 - will provide .dmo, but the lob part should be quite clear from the above explanation...short purposeful passing (b1+up or b1+b2+up) + CPU volleys out 5 metres - will record a .dmo for that as well

2 - will provide .dmo, that part is pretty bad...cheap points on 2nd serve kick for no reason because partner seems confused when returning it and completely loses his footwork resulting in a return into the middle of the net quite often

3 - Guess you know what I mean already

4 - If I increase the power of the fh/bh of the CPU and keep spin 0, will he be keeping the ball lower or still sending loops quite often? Or does that not affect the height of the ball trajectory over the net in TE?

1- having a .dmo will save me the time to set up the test + I'll be sure to be in the situation you reported

4- more speed will make the ball lower on normal strikes, but in this case I think it's a bad strike, so it will probably not change anything ; you can provide me a .dmo if you want me to check it's really a bad strike

I'm not providing the exact scores because you should really see this whole set and the incredible amount of randomness that decides the points...hopefully the .dmo shows most of the points properly, since I've noticed that bug with corrupted points in .dmo files is still there :fear:

"Enjoy", I guess... 8-)

This was just amazing lol

If you don't provide me the score I can't tell you anything about #4. And for #1, I don't want to watch the whole set either...
