Surnames in PlayerNames file

Postby holt77 » 05 Oct 2025, 15:37

Hi,

This is a fairly minor thing, but I've noticed that when new players are generated with a two-word surname (Van Emburgh, for example), it displays only the second part of the name as their surname on scoreboards, so it just shows as Emburgh.

If I add a tilde (~) to these names in the PlayerNames.ATP.txt file, will it count them as a full surname without a hyphen? I know you can do this in the Players.ATP.ini file to show when two names should form a two-word first name rather than part of the surname (Juan~Carlos Ferrero, for example, as if you leave the tilde out it would assume that Carlos Ferrero is the surname).

It would be quite time-consuming to test this, so thought I'd ask here first!

Hello,

you can try, but I'm not sure it'll work.

Replacing the spaces with non-breakable spaces should work, though (I just did it for the next update) : https://unicode-explorer.com/c/00A0 . Notepad seems to replace the non-breakable space when pasting it in its replace field ; use ALT + 0160 to enter it.

Great, thank you very much!

I will try that after the next update.
