I had a custom playersatp.ini and custom tennis,ini using my name Frank.ini which was the same name as the profile. I switched computers in April 2023, and only now am back to reinstalling and getting back into TE4.

I've added players to playersATP.ini, but the new players don't appear. I've tried placing it in the mods folder, in a subfolder in the mods folder named for my profile, but neither works.

What am I missing?

Solved this - the issue is the Tour was starting in 1973 despite me picked the date to start as 2023. That issue is detailed in the next post.

Also, no matter what years I pick for World Tour, it always starts in 1973.

If I edit MaxActivePlayer = 4000, it will start in 1973 no matter the starting year picked. It had to be set to 4000 or the game would crash in 2044.

Tried 3000, and then it always starts in 2020 even if 2023 is picked for the start.

At 2000, the tour starts in 2023 if desired, but the game crashes in 2045.

Hello,

it means you don't have players for the year 2020 onward. If you want to start in 2023, you should grab the Players.ini from the lastest Modding SDK.

That's what I am using. It has a lot of players with first year 2022, but trying to start in 2022 still results in a 1973 start if MaxActivePlayer = 4000.

If MaxActivePlayer = 3000, the latest year that it will start a tour is 2020, even if I pick 2021, 2022, or 2023 as start dates.

MaxActivePlayer doesn't have any influence on the game (except to prevent starting in a future year without enough players), as long as it's not above the actual count of players ; in the base, there are 4378 players, so MaxActivePlayer at 1800 or 4000 is the same, so let it at 1800.

Then if it crashes in a future year, send me a Bug Report and I'll have a look. (HowTo => topic5-31732.php )

It's not the same. I play until 2050ish, and if it's not at least over 2000, the game crashes around 2044 (if started in 2000).. Last night, I simulated a career from 2020 to 2050 with MaxActivePlayer set to 3000. There was no crash. The only issue is it won't start the Tour past 2020 if MaxActivePlayer is set to 3000. I'm going to sim a tour from 2000 with MaxActivePlayer at 3000 to see if it will go to 2050 without crashing. I want to start a career in 2000 to get the start of Federer's career, then add some young hot shots in 2023 to sim through their careers.

That crash might be just more or less random.

It is not random. Back when I started playing, up until around Feb of this year, it would crash every time in 2044 if the number was set to default - starting the tour from 2000. If MaxActivePlayer was 2000, starting a tour from 2000 would last until 2045 before crashing. MaxActivePlayer at 4000 - starting from 2000 - would last until 2050 without crashing - I never ran into a crash after going that far, which is the year I wanted to go.

That\s why, getting back into the game now, I set it to 4000. However, at 4000, I cant' start in any year except 1973. I want to start in 2000.

I checked and back in January, it didn't do anything either (as long as it was not above the number of players in the base).

Maybe you were playing with an old version back then ? MaxActivePlayer started to become mostly useless since I introduced the Unique Tournament mode. (which arrived in July 2022)

Maybe I was thinking last year, April 2022.

Just checked with it set to 3000 - simmed a tour from 1998 to 2050 without a crash.
