Manu, is there a way to limit the slide animations so that they only happen on clay courts ?

Hello,

you can tune the sliding frequency by adding a "Court_Mod.ini" in each "Mods\MySuperMod\Courts\CourtXX" folder, containing this :

[Physics]
SlidingSpeed   =   5.25

By default, it's 5.25, except for the clay & grass courts where it's 4.5.

This is the minimum speed at which the sliding can trigger.

To disable any sliding, set it to 100 or something like this.

Note : it may change in the future if I find out a better way to tune the sliding frequency... :blackeye:

I actually think sliding is a little too frequently triggered in the default setup right now, even on non-clay/grass courts. So maybe make sliding a bit less frequent would be better.

I saw a match point of the woman match at the AO 2022, and the winner did 3 slides in 5 or 6 strikes..! :P
Djokovic can do the same on clay quite frequently.
Maybe for all players, it's less frequent, but gameplay-wise and to bring visual variety, I think it's alright as it is right now. :yes:

Well, I'm not against the default setup right now tbf haha. But before you bring sliding to this game, for some shots I could just reach it with a normal shot (or even accel if fast enough) -- aka a more aggressive shot than the one produced after sliding... now I can only slide and make a slice (probs end up landing in the middle court of the opponent's side) instead ':D

right now, the sliding only lower the topspin of the normal strike, and the backspin of the slice, so the acceleration isn't changed.

I think it's due to the change (more like delay) in human reaction. When I see the sliding animation being triggered, I tend to re-position my char and that might end up missing the best timing for an accel.

Actually, when the sliding triggers while you're still running, you're already a bit late, and thus too much on the ball when you hit it. If you manually press the button a tad before it triggers, then you'll be perfectly positioned and will be able to do accelerations much more safely.

Hey Manu,

Est-il possible de faire en sorte qu'en ajoutant une ligne dans le tennis.ini ou le .ini du profil, on paramètre le SlidingSpeed de tous les courts en même temps ?
Je compte mettre 5.8 ou 5.9 partout vu que j'ai augmenté la vitesse des joueurs à l'aide du cheat MtRun. J'ai testé et je trouve ça mieux à 5.9.

Are we going to be able to add a line in tennis.ini or profile.ini so the sliding rate is set up for each and every court at once ?
I'd like to set it at 5.9 on each court and I would appreciate not to have to set up every court if possible.

I agree, especially on clay where it feels like sliding happens every shot. I don't think this would be an issue if sliding didn't reset aim. I always find myself not being able to aim accurately when the sliding animation triggers. Why does it do that?

Yeah but isn't sliding supposed to help when u r almost late or can barely reach the ball and make a more quality shot? It's just right now since we have to reposition ourselves after the sliding, the quality of shot is lowered so it feels like sliding only makes us weaker.

Yeah exactly my point. I wouldn't even care if the sliding was just visual.

for the next update, add these lines in your GameSys_Mod.ini :

SlidingSpeed   =   4.5 4.5 5.25 5.25 5.25      // Surface type from Court.ini : Clay Grass Synthetic Hard Indoor
SlidingSpeedX   =   1

Like this you change the default values depending on the surface type (Indoor is not great as it's not really a surface type, but it's the only value that all Court.ini should already have).
And you can also multiply any resulting value (including the ones from SlidingSpeed) by SlidingSpeedX.

KINGBARBOZA,
the sliding doesn't reset the aiming ; you can check using the Aiming Preview. If it does, then it's a bug. :fear:

Mystery,
the sliding is more an auto-stop so the player can then start to run quickly to the opposite side after his strike. The maximum possible reach is always from not stopping to run.
In bonus, you get a bit of extra reach, though.
