"Net presence" and "counter" skills

Postby Lucian86 » 20 Aug 2012, 18:30

What do they mean exactly ? (not the terms themselfs but the values and the methodology) How they influence my game ? For me as a player I suppose that the "net presence" it's irrelevant..for the opponent instead, what does it mean that a certain player has 50% of "net presence"...that he's going to the net 50% of the time ? It's too much for a modern player I think and I saw that most of the players ingame have these levels of skill

What about the "counter" skills ? I can see how it influence my opponent but I don't see the relevance for my player.....Again, what exactly mean 50% of counter skills ?
need some benchmark values here

Thanks

The higher the net presence stat is, the longer the "auto-pos" character net jump will be when trying to reach a ball @ net. This stat has also an increased influence on the jump length for volleyer style i think.

As for the counter stats, the higher it is, the more your char will gain somme ball speed on his shots, from the opponent ball speed. This one also has a much higher influence for counter style chars. The stat i think also allows to hit the ball earlyer with lower penalty.

So if I play doubles match, it is better to play with Auto-Positioning fast?

Not sure the net jump management is really tied to auto-pos. i was just evocating it because the jump at the net is somewhat similar to the auto-pos game mechanic in some way.
I guess Manutoo will give you a more precise answer.

From the doc :

Counter - https://www.managames.com/tennis/doc/Ten ... ml#counter :
The counter skill is the ability to use the incoming ball speed to send it back faster. So the counter skill gives you a speed bonus of up to 7.5 km/h on your normal and topspin strikes when the ball is coming really fast.
Moreover, the higher your counter skill is, the less you are constrained by fast incoming balls, but the slow incoming balls are also a bit less easy for you.

Net Presence - https://www.managames.com/tennis/doc/Ten ... tml#volley :
Depending of the strike you do, the Net Presence skill is combined with the volley forehand, volley backhand or smash skill, to define the precision and the consistency of your strike. The power doesn't depend of the Net Presence.
Except that, the volleys & smashes work like the forehands and backhands from the baseline.
Moreover, the higher your Net Presence is, the more you can run while striking the ball without getting any handicap.

dark hammer,
auto-pos setting doesn't influence the net jump speed.
