Federer is varied, although this style is maybe a bit weak for Federer in TE.

I would have thought Fed is a puncher myself, since his main weapons are his forehand and his serve placement. He doesn't outright serve and volley very often (at least not since he was a teenager) and he's more of a baseliner than a net player, preferring to put away easy volleys at the net rather than defend the net like Sampras (who is a good example of the varied style).

in nowadays tennis, Fed's net abilities & presence are way above average. All in all, he's really an all court rounder ; it's true he doesn't S&V often though, I think even at Wimbledon he doesn't do it much... But on the hand, he's not really a puncher ; his base game is closer of a defender actually, swapping to more aggressive tennis as soon as he has the occasion, that's why it's hard to make him fit in a TE style that are more stereotyped... :thinking:
