Does spin even work at all?

Postby Queengis » 17 Dec 2011, 17:24

It was possible before to defend against ballbashing on CLAY using your topspin button and keeping the ball high and deep.

Now with the implementation of the shoulder height bonus to accelerations, they simply swat away the topspin shots even harder than in previous versions. It's now a detriment to have spin on any surface on the World Tour.

The higher the ball sits up, the harder it gets hit. This is true no matter what you do to the ball.

Hello,

I did a quick test and it seems that I could defend well on clay while standing far from the baseline with 100% topspin. It was hard, but globally my Power Baseliner opponent was getting more tired than me, while winning about 50% of the points, so in the end, I guess I'd have destroyed him physically... (with Tiredness on)
So all in all, it seemed realistic & intense enough.
On other surfaces, it may be more problematic though...
I tuned the short acceleration, and it'll be be more efficient with next update, especially when u have a high topspin, so hopefully, it'll balance a bit the penalty of having high topspin (it'll be quite easier to do a winner with the short acceleration coz can hit harder more often, thanks to the topspin keeping the ball short)

My character has 66% spin.

So basically having spin that's in the middle of very little or 100% is worthless. It's not enough spin to keep the ball deep and high enough to avoid being crushed consistently even on clay and not flat enough to be faster and more penetrating.

Interesting.
