Types of shot, and when to use them.

Postby deknegt » 19 May 2022, 09:43

So I am decent at playing on lower levels, where it's mostly a case of accurate shots and outgunning the AI. But I struggle when I increase the difficulty, or when I try to start mixing in net play and try more than just standing at the baseline and merely hitting angles until the AI misses a return.

I seem to have a decent idea of the basics, but whilst I have a general idea of what the shot types do, I don't really know when to use them or in what kind of strategy. So I was wondering if people could help me a little bit in explaining in what situations I should be using specific shot types.

Also what is the difference between a short strike and a normal strike, or a short acceleration vs. a normal acceleration? Is it like distance you're aiming it to go for, or the stroke used to add a different effect/speed?

I would be very grateful for actual experts with knowledge of tennis specifics to help me out, and hopefully bring my game up to a more respectable level :)

Hello,

the short strikes are... shorter than the normal strikes..! :blackeye:

To achieve that, they have more topspin and a bit less speed, so they can still clear the net.

You can easily test out everything in the warm up mode of the Training Club. You should activate Escape -> Options -> Show Strike Speed, if you want to get a better idea of the result of each strike.
