How exactly does play style affect a player?

Postby cangqilai » 20 Jun 2018, 04:40

Hi manutoo! I've been playing TE2013 for several years, great game! But after such long time, I still can't tell many differences between styles. Actually, except for Volleyer having a strong tendency of running to the net, I can hardly distinguish a style from another. Could you explain some of them? Personally, I'd hope styles vary more from each other, like a Defender would almost never run to the net, and prefer Top Spin much, much more than Acceleration, and something else like that. I also wanna know, does the style affect human players?

Hello,

here : https://www.managames.com/tennis/doc/Ten ... html#style

Powerbaseliner attacks more than the Defender, and so on.

Thanks for replying! So style does influence human players, I see. Is it possible that you make different styles vary more from each other for AI players? Because I really can't distinguish Defender, Baseliner and Puncher opponents...Is the topic "[TE4] How to improve the AI ?" still active? I may have some advice to post.

By the way, may I ask who were the representatives for each style when you designed them? :P

I guessed Federer stands for Puncher, Nadal for Defender, Djokovic for Baseliner, Murray for Counter, Sampras for Volleyer. No idea who's Varied. :thinking:

Federer = varied ( = good at baseline and good at net)

Nadal = defender (he'll get a newly created style in TEM2/TE4)

Djoko = PB

Murray = defender as well

Sampras = Varied (he didn't volley that much)

Rafter, Edberg = Volleyers
