Using mouse as controller

Postby CC » 16 Aug 2009, 16:48

When playing with a mouse, if the visual cursors are enabled, a service preview is shown for the server that makes it extremely easy to hit an ace. That is neat. I don't know whether or not this visual cursor would display in an online game as I haven't tested it. Once I have practiced more with a mouse, I think I would turn off that visual cursor, anyway.

One thing with the mouse, though, is that I can't seem to adjust the settings so that the control of player movement is like that with the keyboard. The best example I think that I can give is that with the keyboard, I can quickly depress left and right sequentially, and the player almost shakes -- really neat animation. It requires I think to much horizontal movement with the mouse to come close to replicating this. I've tried all of the filter settings, adjusting the sensitivity, and adjusting the pointer speed in the Control Panel applet. Is there something that I am missing? Also, with the mouse, the blue visual cursor can be moved so much more quickly than the player can move, and sometimes if the visual cursor is put "off of the screen," the player doesn't respond and the cursor has to be moved into a visible area and then moved again for the player to follow.

Hello CC,

no there's nothing ur missing, but shaking left/right isn't needed to play well at TE... ;)

U cannot really turn off the visual indicator, coz if u do, actually, it switches to another control mode, which is the keyboard/joystick emulation, which is a lot less comfortable to use, I think.
So in online mode, u can have help for serve when playing with the mouse, but it's kinda fair, coz overall, it's a bit harder to play with it...

Shake, ratlle, and roll! :D

Ahhhh, I can't imagine playing well without being able to shake, ManuTOO! :bounce: :bounce:

I think it is mostly for my enjoyment (to see myself shaking) -- a way to release my nervousness or to impress my opponent maybe (  ).

Without the shake, oh -- the game just wouldn't be that fun to me :) .

So, my search for a control better than the keyboard continues. Maybe I will try a controller such as what you use again; right now, the keyboard is working OK. I just really liked that serve indicator that was available with the mouse    .

Thanks!

I play with the mouse, I began to get used to play with it and now I can not change the keyboard because I do not like, the visual mouse cursors are useless they do not match the player is playing better without this, certainly the mouse is slow to move from left to right keyboard comparison.
The game play is enhanced only with the keyboard.
The keyboard is 100% the joystick 60% and the mouse to 50%
should be more evenly because not every player is easy to handle keyboard.

And Gamepad is 150%... ;) (as long as it's one which allows to press left/right without pressing up/right unintentionally)
