"Accelleration Slice"

Postby Richou » 13 Aug 2009, 13:45

Well as u might have read on the tournament tour (Montreal), u'll have seen my views on that damn "acceleration slice". Ive had a thought, which was provoked by the Haas vs Gonzalez match that I saw last night. Gonzalez was going to play a slice forehand cuz he was on the run, but changed his mind and decided to go for a top spin shot. this resulted in a weak forehand (and this is gonzo we're talking about) due to the fact he was still using a continental grip (used for slices). SO! my thought, was simply to make the same result come from trying to use the power slice. Make it a very weak shot that comes off the strings. Any thoughts? cuz i know theres been speculation about this before now..

Agree!
If this is a problem wich manutoo cannot take out from TE, why don't work with that??
make it a weak shot is a perfect soluction, if the shot is weak, nobody will use it and this unfair play will desapear!.

I know many people sometimes do that, but don't want...i do that to,rarely, but sometimes i embarrass myself and i do that shot.
BUT!,many people use it to confuse the opponent, and that's unfair...

i hope this topic can change many people mind

The problem is that this shot is impossible to do in real life so should be removed.

yeah i know, theres been some debate about this before, and obviously i think manu would have removed it already if he could have as its such a blatant flaw in the game.

Imagine playing a person who has the drop-shot at 100%
In this game you already have to have quick reactions but if you don't know what to expect what will you do?
Cause if it's the difference between a slice and a drop-shot you will have to move forwards to defend them anyway. With this shot if you go forwards you're done. It should either be eliminated or its effects should be minimized.

for me is as simple as this:

1) We can have a special rule on the tour tournaments to make it appear as CHEATING(because that's what it is :whistle: ) and punish the people who use it or;
2) If Manutoo could tuned that down to make it a very slow and bad shot, would be great

Sorry I don't understand, are you talking about that shot that first seems slice and then it's an accelleration?

what's wrong with it!?
if 150cm girls can be more powerful than a 6 foot tall, 75 kg, why shud we get rid of acceleration slice.

I had a message from manutoo months ago saying this ''Le but de TE2009 est d'être fun & réaliste, et non pas réaliste & fun... ''
Translation : the goal of TE is to be fun &realist and not realist & fun ;)
Richou, You should accept the defeat, sometimes  :)

Exactly, which is why the shot should be removed. Its not fun OR realistic for the person playing against someone who uses that shot.

And if female players had less power it wouldn't be fun to play which is why they have the same power as men.

??? Non-sense... that's like saying '' Is it fun for the loser, to fail against the opponent?''

And if female players had less power it wouldn't be fun to play which is why they have the same power as men

Maybe Smaller you are Faster you run, and vice versa

If you have problem with this shot, find a way to prevent it, Tennis Elbow doesn't need to be 100% REALIST, total lol even triple A Tennis game isn't 100% REALIST
but honestly I get your points of saying that it should be removed, and I think with you (everyone above) that this shot should be removed but not ''ALL unrealist shots''.

This isnt about me not dealing with defeat well, its about getting rid of, and finding a solution to fixing a glitch which the majority of players want to see rid off
