Low number of unforced errors

Postby universal123 » 10 Jul 2014, 17:09

I have noticed whilst playing, (at Pro 5 difficulty) that it is very uncommon for either a human player or an AI to make unforced errors. I find this quite unrealistic, because in real tennis players can and do miss even relatively simple shots on occasion. The difficulty of the shot is fine for difficult shots, those are often hit into the net or long/wide, but it seems to almost never be the case that a player makes a mistake e.g. on a simple forehand into the open court, or missing an easy volley, which happens maybe 10% of the time in real tennis. Are you planning to change this, and/or what settings should i change in the Tennis.ini to make it more realistic?

Just to make it clear, I am talking about mistakes on easy shots, not on difficult ones, that is fine as it is IMO.

LOL, if you want to play real tennis, play real tennis. ;) Tennis Elbow is good (virtual) game.

universal123,
there's no unforced error on normal shots in TE (except for the CPU at beginner & club levels), because I think it'd be frustrating for many people to miss strikes for no reason (and that'd be really problematic for online competition).

But if you still didn't switch to Elite controls, do it now, it'll bring more errors, even on not-so-hard balls, as soon as you're a bit short on time to prepare your strikes.

TE4 will have more errors that will look like unforced when you're a bit short on time, but still no error on perfect clear shots.

At the moment my settings are:

Preview: Off
Difficulty: Pro 5
Controls: Simulation
Tiredness: On

I will try switching to elite controls and see if that helps, also I found that with preview off, you can track the ball pretty well provided you use a camera from behind the court, not above it. Sort of like the view someone in the front row of the stands would get. Thanks for your help.
