Thank you, ManuTOO. It did seem like there may be some backspin. Honestly, there are already quite a bit of shots that result in "dead" balls -- where the ball hardly bounces and stays very low to the ground. I'm not sure that the shot I am referring to would be a good thing for others to be able to use
It may be because I am such a beginner at tennis, but the backspin shot is one that I hate to have to defend against. I have played many who hit it so well that it actually is not that slow of a shot, but there is so very much spin on it, that when it hits the ground, it bounces up pretty high (well, probably shoulder height, I think). However, since I was expecting it to keep coming toward me, I am often too late in running to the ball to strike it.
