Backspin possible with TE2009?

Postby CC » 16 Dec 2008, 05:38

I know that with TE2006 backspin was not possible. Will it be possible with TE2009? When I have played the CPU player, I have seen her execute a forehand slice, with the racket going from above her shoulder, down, and across to the other side. The ball is returned to me similar to a safe strike, and after it bounces, it continues going along the same path as before.

In real tennis, the backspin shot is one that I struggle to return if I don't see the shot execution well (so that I would expect this shot). It is hard when the ball is coming toward you, it bounces, and then it goes basically straight up, but not horizontally toward you any more. If you aren't careful, you won't have enough time to run to the ball and strike it well.

This is the only shot that I am missing in TE2009. On the other hand, maybe there aren't any key combinations left to create this with (?). What do you others think about this topic?

Hello,

the current slice is about 50% backspin, 50% sidespin.
In real life, a strike needs to be very slow to completely stop on rebound due to the backspin.
In the game, the slice already lowers the speed after the rebound.

Thank you, ManuTOO. It did seem like there may be some backspin. Honestly, there are already quite a bit of shots that result in "dead" balls -- where the ball hardly bounces and stays very low to the ground. I'm not sure that the shot I am referring to would be a good thing for others to be able to use :D .

It may be because I am such a beginner at tennis, but the backspin shot is one that I hate to have to defend against. I have played many who hit it so well that it actually is not that slow of a shot, but there is so very much spin on it, that when it hits the ground, it bounces up pretty high (well, probably shoulder height, I think). However, since I was expecting it to keep coming toward me, I am often too late in running to the ball to strike it.
