Exactly what I was telling you. I usually use topspin shots, and the positioning doesn't really matter. And when I use accelerations, I'm in good position anyway.

Lol you weren't telling me anything about that. We didn't discuss it. We were discussing the defender style, and if you had told me then it wasn't because of the defender style, I wouldn't have needed to post complains about it. lol :roll:
I just had defender style on when I noticed I didn't have to position myself, so I draw the conclusion it was defender style that caused that. haha

@jenks10s :
Could you go to the Load screen, then exit the game, and send the "C:\Program Files\Tennis Elbow 2009\System.log" file to the email you got your license key from ..?

@S.Williamz :
Glad u noticed the defender behavior is about the same than other play styles... :)

>> player's height
Changing the height also changes the wingspan, so I have to compensate this by a very slightly different speed.
Being taller also gives an advantage at the net, coz it's harder to be lobbed...

Yeah I understand that about player's height, but you are still going to change the speed bonus, right?

I have collected my thoughts about this, and this is what I really wanted to say before: It's the combination of certain things that are problematic. If you are as short as possible, and hit normal/topspin shots, it's very easy to run down and hit any ball that is thrown at you. So if someone wants to play more powerful tennis, the shots won't do any damage against a player like this. When the accelerations run out, the only option is to play endless rallies with normal shots(really, they will never end). And if you are a taller player, you won't have any chance against this short player. So you too have to be really short. Also I would claim, that in these normal rallies, a lot of topspin is more effective than less topspin. So to have a chance, you too have to have a lot of topspin. This leads to the scenario where both players are as short as possible and have max topspin and they play rallies that last 40 years. You can't shorten rallies with volleys too much because when hitting normal shots, it's really easy to hit amazing angles passing shots.
I just don't find this kind of tennis fun. It should be a little bit more realistic.

S.Williamz, it's good when you collect your though, your point is getting really clearer..! :)
So yup, I'll lower the speed bonus.
And I'll think about tune the normal strike speed with & without topspin, maybe give a couple of km/h bonus when no topspin at all...
BTW, even when u're done with ur good accelerations, u still can do 1 or 2 more pretty safely, so maybe it'd be good to use them to rush the net...
In TE2006, it was easier to rush the net using the normal strike (when out of accelerations) coz the short shot was needing way more long time to aim near the line so ur opponent had more difficulty to find a good angle, right ?

Yeah, I think the ability to hit such good angles should be reduced. Its just not realistic to hit precise angled shots off service returns. It makes it impossible to serve and volley once in a while.

Ugh, this is horrible. Giving some bonus to having no topspin is ok, but the other things along with it? We already had the topspin strikes lowered, and that didn't work out so well. And I think that instead of lowering the speed bonus more of a bonus should be given to taller players, maybe in strike speed. All in all, just don't tweak these things too much please, otherwise we'll get a game more like TE 06 again.

You should offer some real reasoning, not something vague like "it didn't work so well" or "we'll get a game like te06". What do those mean anyway? How do tweaking those things make the game like te06? As far as I know, the main problem with te06 was the volleying, and tweaking those things don't affect volleying in anyway. :wink:

Today, S.Williamz and I played a match with both of us as defenders. It was crazy, pointless, and it took over half an hour. Now I understand his argument, and I withdraw what I said. The game needs some serious tweaking. And here's a couple of other things that we agreed on:

The lob should be much more attackable. As it is now, you can just use a lob and you'll be right back in the point, and you can't hit a winner off it unless you do a drop shot.

There are two types of drop shots that are way too effective. One is where it's like a short slice, it just moves through the court. It's done by holding the slice button, then at the last minute changing it to the drop shot button. Then the second one I've only done myself. I have my volleying skills at 0, and when I hit a slice volley it sometimes comes off like a drop shot. It bounces high in the air but it's spinning around and people often aren't able to hit it.

Hopefully we can somehow find a happy medium. Good luck Manutoo!

We also both were short and had lots of topspin. :wink:

@Guess :
Sharapova will be fixed in next update.

@TScott414 :
The precision of the short strike is lower of other strikes, it should give the possibility to server volley (once u practiced it enough)

@Togtdyalttai & S.Williamz :
Glad we all agree at last..! ;)
I noticed this problem in CPU vs CPU matches, and to fix that, I forced the CPU to do short strikes & drop shot to end long rallies...
For the online game, it's unfortunately more complicated to fix that... :?
Hopefully, the slightly lower acceleration speed will help.
And if u want to more easily attack the lob, u should try to play with tall players... ;)

>> then at the last minute changing it to the drop shot button
it just uses the imprecision to randomize the target zone. The slice before it doesn't have any influence.

>> I have my volleying skills at 0, and when I hit a slice volley it sometimes comes off like a drop shot
same, it uses the imprecision... (on a real court, it'd be named "beginner luck" when it happens, I guess ;) ).
It means often u'll do a short volley in middle of court, so ur opponent should have enough choices to pass u...

When playing against CPU, I like long rallies :D Especially in training mode.
But, speaking to the topic, perhaps you could raise the maximum number of fast acceleration shots to the game to help "end the long rallies". I would rather have this than have the CPU hit softer, especially on Incredible level. When playing on Incredible, I want the CPU to hit hard often. Sometimes I feel there are too many soft shots. In reality, players don't have a limit on the number of acceleration shots they hit. If you could add to each profile, say 2-3 additional acceleration shots to the max, I think it would be better. And help end points quicker (which I don't have a problem with personally).

Sometimes when you try to hit a dropshot, it actually hits a very short slice kind of shot, that's almost impossible for the opponent to get. I'm not quite sure what causes this, maybe imprecision, but it happens quite often in rallies. It's not fun because that shot usually ends the rally there, and it's not very realistic either. It usually happens if your opponent hits a lob in rallies, and you try hit a dropshot. But also in other cases.

Yes that shot is kind off in between a dropshot and a slice so it ends up near the service line and it is literally impossible to play that shot .
