Worst opponent?

Postby campa100anni » 30 Jul 2013, 13:32

Who is your worst opponent or (opponents)? The ones you can't beat anytime or against who you can't even win a set? For me the worst are absolutely Nadal and Verdasco. I hate left handed players as i like to play inside-out forehands so that my opponent will often use the slice backhand to keep the ball in play and this gives me the chance to step inside the court and start pushing him with my baseline shots. But against a left-hander, of course, this doesnt work anymore and i have to try to play more cross-court forehands, finding myself a lot of time in bad positions and i often end up taking winners from both sides. Plus, i hate players that use a lot of topspin as they force me to play 2-3 meters behind the baseline and from there i can't hit any winners anymore. Plus they are great defender (Nadal's a monster) and once my net skills are ridicolus so far it's almost impossibile for me to win a point. I come from five straight 0-6 against Nadal (i lost the first match in Australia 6-1 6-0 6-0 where i won the first game of the match) and then i lost in Montecarlo 6-0 6-0. Against Verdasco i never won more than 3 games per set in my career. Who are yours? I play at Pro 10.

Nadal, if you play short, he won, if you play long, he won, if you play extreme, he won, if you play at the net, he won.

Yup, Nadal because of the freakish topspin. Impossible to deal with. Your only hope is to serve perfectly and hope you nip the tiebreaks.

For me, the worst opponents were Conchita Martinez and Gabriela Sabatini (both in old versions of the game). Conchita's topspin was insane and I couldn't get the ball past her. Gabriela seemed to take everything early and hit incredible angles for winner after winner. If I didn't have to face the two of them I usually won the tournament lol.

For me in the career I'm playing at the minute is Varvara Lepchenko, she hits the ball so hard and flat, punishes my first and second serve no matter the speed or placement!! I've won two grand slams and made it to number one this season but keep losing to her and she is ranked 13. If anyone knows how to beat her let me know!!
