Second serve

Postby campa100anni » 28 Jul 2013, 13:03

What kind of second serve do you hit in your matches?
I always hit a top-spin second serve, by pressing B2+DOWN and trying to give it a high angle. This works pretty well on clay where the ball bounces really high and sometimes i even hit some second-serve ace. It works not bad on hard courts where the ball bounces not high enough to give me the point straight away but most of the times my opponent is forced to hit a slice return where i can step inside the court and start pushing him. But it works very very bad on grass courts. The ball will not bounce any high and all i got is a very slow serve with a ball that bounces low and gives my opponent the chance to hit the winner basically at every second serve that i hit. What kind of second serve do you use on clay, hard and grass courts?

a B2 second serve is the only way, i think, to make sure you dont do double fault. but it is very easy that you got nailed by opponents. thats why ill never win wimbledon sigh.

nope, i play in pro 10. i dont hit an ace at every second serve, i hit like 1 out of 20, and most of times on clay only if i serve with very high angle wide top spin serve ;)

This are the stats after my last semifinal in Acapulco, so it's a little bit more since the last time I hit some 2nd serve ace.

It's something that used to happen to me as well some time ago. Usually i just had to restart the game (or sometimes reboot my pc) for it to fix by itself.

no i make aces playing every torunament, even grand slams but, like i told before, its not that i hit 10 or 20 second serve ace per match. i hit 2, maybe 3 second serve aces per tournament, most of times on clay and only against not very fast players (even good players but not the fastest ones like berdych or tsonga for example). i hit some ace only when i go for a very high angle and therefore i have to risk a double fault to hit a second serve ace. it's not something that happens very often, it just something that happens sometimes it's strange that you never hit any if you serve wide top spin second serve too lol.
