Data updates

Postby trulu » 20 Jun 2007, 12:58

Hello,

Is it possible to make data updates? I see that Roger Federer is not the number one of the entry list. Can we change this?

In the players file I can see for every player which position he has on the world ranking. There are also numbers for the comming years. Am I right to say that the rankings for all CPU-players is deceded before you start the game? If you look in the file you can see how high a specific player will become on the rankings. I really don't want to know where Vliegen will stand after a few years...

If I compare the rankings of two games after one, two,... years, are the rankings the same then or is it possible there are some surprises in the rankings?

Greetings and besides the game is great !

Hello,

the rankings in the Players.ini only define the strength of the players. It means they can be above or below this ranking, but usually, they shouldn't be too far of it at the end of the year.

If you play 2 games, you should see that rankings are not exactly the same, but they shouldn't be very different.

If you want to be almost sure that Federer will be #1, you can boost his strength. In some years, it's already the case : a ranking of 1.05 means number 1 strength + a 5 points bonus.
Number 1 strength is around 87% of the max, with 5 more points, it's going up to 92%. If you put, 1.1, it'll be up to 97% .

Is it possible to continue in the game day by day instead of week by week. For example, if you are still in the tournament, then it goes day by day, but if you are defeated in the first round, then you go imediately to the next week. I would prefer if I could then see the results of other players day by day. Maybe it is possible to implement this so you can choose to go day by day or imediately to next week?

I think I agree with this suggestion.

The ability to move forward one day at a time would have it's advantages, I believe. In addition to being able to see how the draw is working out when in a tournament, it would also allow a players to have some measure of recovery (due to overnight rest) without using training hours for rest. That would be more realistic, but it may upset the gameplay a little, and it may be necessary to adjust the increase in attribute per hour of training.

The other thing (which is kind of related) which I find is a minor annoyance is that as soon as you hit next week, you get taken straight to the Travel Screen and then straight into the tournament - there seems no opportunity to review (as I would like to) the updated rankings screen. After the Travel Screen, you should be taken to the main screen.

Hello,

yes, it'll be possible to advance day by day next time I'll update TEM (probably in a few days), by editing the Tennis.ini (or the .ini of your current profile), and changing this line, under [WT_Static], from :
DayByDay = 0 //break after every day
to :
DayByDay = 1

It won't influence the gameplay at all, only the game will stops after each day, so you could look the tournament draws.

>> it would also allow a players to have some measure of recovery

it's already the case. I just updated the doc to try to explain a bit how it works :
https://www.managames.com/tennismanager/ ... #tiredness

>> there seems no opportunity to review the updated rankings screen

I'll add an option in the .ini as well, to allow to stop after the travel screen...

Hello,

little update done, you can dl it from the site.

I added this in the Tennis.ini, under [WT_Static] :
BreakAfterPlane = 0
Just put it like this to come back to the main screen after the travel screen :
BreakAfterPlane = 1
