Player stats at a new starting season

Postby petrone_maxi » 08 Jun 2011, 19:41

Hi Manu.
Playing the game in the last days i´ve notice than at the start of every season the stats of all the players increase/decrease depending on how good is that year for the player in real life.
The thing is, sometimes happens that "unknown" players at the time becomes REAL good, and end up apearing way before they did in reality. For example, in 2005 Rafael Nadal becomes REAL good and end up wining Australia for sure, when he truly appear a few months later in Roland Garros. The same happens to Roger Federer in 2003.
Its not a big deal, and doesn´t ruin the game at all, but its something curious that I wanted you to notice.

Well they didn't just appear at the slam they won (Fed won Wimbledon in 03) - Fed was no 5 seed that year, and Nadal was well into the top 50 of the world )if not actually seeded at Roland Garros) when he won. Funnily enough - Nadal and Verdaso were both rated equally highly by the press that year - and look how different their careers have been!
The skills for the year are determined by the end of year ranking in the game, so kinda impossible to make them suddenly get better half way through the year.

Yeah, I know federer was a Top 5 in that time... but before 2004 is accesible... between 2004 and 2007 he is IMPOSIBLE.
And about Nadal, I know he doesn´t sudenly apear, but it he change incredibly in a short period (if you look the difference between one year to another)
What I´m saying about this is that this make Australia incredibly tough! Because no seeded player become overpower in so short time.
Anyway, I don´t believe is something changeable. but I just wanted to point it out.

The one that I've noticed is Del Potro, he always has a bad 2010 I'm guessing because he was injured during that time, but in 2011 he's back to being a good player.
