Poor Emily, who had just made it to the semifinals in the Portugal 1 Futures (the first time she had ever appeared in a main draw), faced a poor little chicken in the first round of qualifying for the Portugal 2.

Emily averages 18 in her technical skills, 25 in her physical and 15 in her mental. The chicken was a 1 in everything except three of her mental skills, which averaged 40. Emily thought to take it easy on the chicken, remembering her first qualifying tournaments (all of two months ago), so she took the 20% malus. The chicken took the first set 6-2.

Bearing down now, wanting to put an end to this ridiculousness, Emily gave her all in the second set and fared much better… losing 6-3.
