game editing [problem with surface specialists]

Postby Cenc » 18 Dec 2007, 10:57

manutoo, can u please tell me how to edit the game in other way because whatever i do things in the game dont change:
is it anyhow possible to make surfaces that claycourters win roland garros and grasscourters wimby or its simply chosen match play so grasscourters are better on clay-
my results:
sampras unbeatable on clay
then other clay tourney winners:
ferreira
kiefer
rusedski
henman
ivanišević etc
sometimes real claycourters but not very often

and then comes wimbledon:
and wimby champions are:
coria
muster
bruguera
nadal

etc

can i edit it anyhow-changing char params or courts?
thx in advance

Hello,

did you change anything in your current installation to reach these results ..?

It is possible that sometimes a clay specialist wins a grass title, and a grass specialist wins a clay title, but it shouldn't exceed 10% of tournaments.

I just tuned a bit the simulation, and enforced the role of the bonus/malus of the top spin effect depending of the surface, thus it should lead to even less cases like this...
And if you're not happy with the result, you still could manually change the top spin of the players in the database to be sure to even lower more this kind of case.

I also just found a bug : the surface skills aren't saved for CPU players !!
So if you exit the game often, and play only a few weeks each time, it may makes each surface specialist a bit less strong on his surface, as the skills are reset to 50% every time you load the game.

The new update should be released within 2 or 3 weeks...

PS: in real life, Ferreira already won a clay title, and Nadal reached 2 consecutive Wimbledon finals... ;)

1st however i edit courts or players its the same...
2nd nadal is everything except grasscourter. the thing is that real wimbledon is funny now. as slow as roland garros just coloured green. in real wimby from 90s nadal would never reach 2nd week he is NOT a grasscourter with 31kmh serve

but ok please tell me WHAT TO EDIT exactly what to make that it happenes less often-sampras winning roland garros and chang winning wimbledon
(ps i play 90s tennis because real tennis now is... no comment in real wimbledon sampras would defeat fed and nadal in double)

Hello,

I just ran more tests, and for 1st time, I got a Sampras winning a lot of tournaments on clay, so I decided to do more tuning for next update... And I just did most of them, and now, even if some surprises are still possible, it seems to be more balanced...

I guess 1st you should reinstall the game to be sure to not have any misguided modification...
2nd, you should wait for next update; if you can't wait then lower these skills for the clay players :
- all volley skills ; return ; FH & BH precisions ; Service power & precision
And raise the same skills for the grass players.

Shot precision is surely not the 1st best point of clay specialists even if it can be useful to them. And anyway, it's always a lot more useful on fast surfaces than on slow surfaces...
