How do you remove split screen when playing a friend in two-person mode on the same TV?

disable Settings -> Video -> Advanced -> Splitscreen (it's on "Auto" by default).

I'm trying to remove the split screen and just play on one screen on my TV. I don't want it on. I see the option but I only see two choices on or Auto. Does this mean that I can't cut it off?

There's : off, auto, on. Be sure to press the Lowering button (shown on the top right of the screen).
