Stutter when V-sync is turned off?

Postby jambalaya » 11 Jul 2017, 01:30

When I turn off V-sync the gameplay isn't smooth. Every few seconds it stutters/flickers. I read the topic on monitor input lag and experimented with all different settings. I'm on a laptop which is quite good. Good enough to run everything on high settings. Any ideas?

Hello,

normally, game should better fine with V-Sync on ; if it's off, you might get screen tearing.

Anyway, check that energy saving mode didn't trigger ; in power options, try to set the plan to Performance instead of Saving or Balanced. (on Windows)

I thought that V-sync causes small input lag which isn't good for high level online play.

"those framed images are pretty noticeable like graphic lags wich you didn't mentionned i think, the slowdown you had was probably more constant, those framed images are like little graphic lag bursts."

Both with and without V-Sync, the game should run at 60 fps, so input lag will be identical. It'll have issue only if for some reason VSync creates some issue on your particular set-up.

Turn on the "Draw Fps" in "Misc Options" if you want to check if the game have fps drop with and without V-Sync.
