safe shot alias 'no shot bug'

Postby Heinrich von Westphalen » 22 Apr 2014, 15:46

Dear developer,
please delete or fix safe shot because

  • it's abused for spam net in a pathetic way in singles and doubles (jumping by press any shot > release button for getting 'safe shot' in the middle to have time to cover net [from middle is impossible to lob as well])
  • no need for it in an ordinary tennis match (neither TE nor real)

It would make sense that players doesn't hit the ball if no button is pressed. Also lob / smash balance is a joke ... never seen that every lob can be smashed (and not run back at baseline like in real tennis), especially very high defense lobs. Here's a .dmo to show this sick gameplay. (no need to mention a special point cause he used it in almost every rally)

Thanks for your subsequent efforts.

With quiescent regards,
Psevdónymos.

PS.: I'll give an example .dmo for doubles later.

Maybe a further handicap on forward movement, after a safe shot could do the trick. Also making slice reach longer.

But who use seriously a safe shot (in normal way) in this game? The problem is that they press B2, hold and release a moment before they hit. So they could jump and do a safe shot in the middle, which is very hard to pass from there and "unlobable" as well.

This bug is about safe shot at net (first return after / during rush), not at baseline to rush net.

Agree on this volley, releasing makes it a safe volley and before that you can hold to achieve the jump...so it's funny. On these tough volleys if you keep holding you will probably hit a volley error, but releasing at the final moment works well and then you become kinda unpassable at the net

I'd also like to see lob returns go out, I've never seen any ATP player hit a lob return...Here, I noticed when I serve and volley sometimes the opponent can hit a crazy precise lob as I am approaching the net after serving

And well, 100s of bugs in doubles, mostly due to CPU player AI issues...I guess.

Not just ''no shot'' shot helps to reach the net, also moonballs, slice lobs, etc, are a freaking easy way to reach the net.

It's not about to reach the net ... it's about the first return during rushing net. :)
