Poll: Removing RL and giving an extra day for final

Postby MarkChan » 17 Aug 2014, 10:44

I have two suggestions.

1. RL should be replaced by "No Match".

I find RL is abused by many. I think RL should be replaced by "No Match", meaning both are disqualified and their next round's opponent can get a WO automatically. Rationale behind this change is that players will try harder to organize knowing "No Match" would result to a "lose-lose" situation and they can't rely on luck in RL anymore. Of course if it is one of the players' fault then the other player should still be awarded a WO. The mods can change the "No Match" decision if players organize a match right after the decision is made. RL is still reserved if both sides agree to use it before the deadline if they don't want to play in extremely laggy condition.

2. An extra day should be given to final.

Since the draw is released on Friday, an extra day given for final prolonging the deadline from Sunday to Monday would not affect the seeding in the next tournament. It's unfortunate to see a final decided by WO or RL IMO.

Please tell me your thoughts as well.

Respectfully,
Mark Chan

Sorana:

if players dont have free time, I think they should just give their opponent a W.O. instead of leaving a message then go away to wait for the RL.

Sorana:

This is not an legit reason I think. You can wake up a bit earlier or sleep a bit late to organize a match. RL is unfair to those who are willing to do so (and who actually waited but got RL).

calm down, anyway when a match is decided by RL , in 80% of cases the player who would won if play , win by rl too

Sorana:

I agree that most of the times the seemingly better player would win. But what's the pt of deciding the winner before the match? In sports there's things called UPSET, and that's why players should organize a match despite a player having a better past-record.
