Inspired by Petr Kroppe I would like to make a summary about my experience at AON Open.
- Q1 | Rpha™ def. Rodj_Federer 6/0 3*/0 ret.
My 1st match at this tour went smoothly. I played aggressive with deep, hard and top spinned shots. That way it was possible to move speedily around my backhand and made important points with the forehand. Unfortunaly he became unmotivated and retired after 9 games.
- Q2 | Rpha™ def. ABOUZIID 6/0 6/0
2nd match was similar. He tried to place some nice dropshots, but underestimated my quickness. I know it can be depressing to lose in that way but his performance level was out of his usual.
- Q3 | Rpha™ def. Jerry Ma by walkover
We tried everything to realise this match but distance wouldn't allow, so kindly this nice guy from China gave me a walkover.
- R1 | Rpha™ def. Marin 6/0 6/2
This match was really exhausting. He played great and tough tennis from baseline that I had to play my best defence during the whole match. I became really nervous in front of his consistency and power in his shots so he managed to break me in 2nd set. At this point I tried to vary speed of rally to obtain control back. Summarized a great and really fair player. Not everybody has the balls to find some nice words after defeat. I really hope to meet this guy again at upcoming tournaments.
- R2 | Rpha™ def. Hsine by walkover
My opponent didn't appear so I got walkover. What a bummer.
- QF | Rpha™ def. jonnyboy21 6/0 6/0
Comparable match like round one with the related difference of his missing consistency. Furthermore surface doesn't fit his style which was the half of the battle. - SF | Rogger def. Rpha™ 6/4 7/5
I know this would be a hard match but his performance exceed expectations. I didn't choose the right tactic and did beginner's mistake and played unskilled tennis. I became tired after 1 (!) game so had no chance to win this match. His experience in fair mode / tiredness was the key which stopped me.
On balance it was a great week. I met nice guys, talked a little bit about US Open (Vamos!) and played great tennis matches. I wish all my opponents good luck in upcoming matches / tournaments. Thanks to all my opponents and maybe one time in the future, one will see each other again.
