Hello Guys!
I am pleased to post the first interview of a series of tournament champion interviews. I hope you will like them. Enjoy reading.
Stajus after winning the Rotterdam title in singles and doubles

Q: Hello Stan. Congratulations on your outrageous week. How do you feel right now?
Stan : Thanks. Pretty cool I guess. How do you feel?

Q: I feel good, maybe a bit horny. Tell me which was the hardest match of the tournament?
Stan: Probably against Florian, I didn't start well at all and I was 1-6 1-2* down before making a big comeback. The final wasn't easy either.

Q: So you had a tough fight against Flori. How have you been able to come back and win in the end?
Stan: Well, I started nervously in the first set both at the net and at the baseline, so he was able to take control with some nice baseline winners and passing shots. In the second set I got a bit unfortunate to go 1-2* down as he net clipped at deuce I think, however I was able to break back immediately. After that the match was pretty close all the way and I managed to break back in the 3rd set, possibly with a bit of good fortune.

Q: It seems you played a solid final. How difficult was it to win and do you think sometimes it would be good to be a giraffe to have a good overview in the matches?
Stan : Well, overall I did enough to win, though I got very lucky at 2-1* in the 2nd set with several net clips in a row. In general I felt my chances were good coming into this match so I was confident. Being a giraffe helps you see angles that other players can't.

Q: Let's stick with animals. You won the doubles tournament easily. Do you sometimes feel like a predator when playing doubles?
Stan : Funny question. Well, not sure what to answer. I just get the job done without biting anyone's legs off. I think the key to doubles is combining the shots in a smart manner and minimising the errors while doing so.

Q: The season is still young. What are your goals for this season?
Stan: True, it's just the start. Lol, I'd like to beat Voja at least once and we'll see...I'm aiming to get an even better ranking in singles - No2 if possible, but it won't be easy. I don't see anyone taking the No1 ranking from Voja anytime soon. As for doubles, I'm more focused on Grand Slams at this point in time.

Q : If you reach your goals will you buy yourself a taddy bear?
Stan: A Moldovan one.

Q: I wish you a lot of pleasure with it and good luck for the further season. Thank you for joining us.
Stan: Thanks, it was my pleasure. See you soon.

Mohamed after winning the San Jose singles and doubles title

Q: Hello Mohamed. How are you?
Mohamed: Hi, fine thanks

Q: You had a great showing this week winning the singles and doubles title in San Jose. How do you feel about this?
Mohamed: I'm feeling nice, I think I played well during the whole week.

Q: Going into a tournament as top seed means a lot of pressure but it seems you handled it well. Was it a lot of pressure for you?
Mohamed: Well, it wasn't. I mean being a top seed gives the biggest confidence to go ahead and get the title..

Q: What do you think are the reasons for the success of Tunisian TE players?
Mohamed: Practicing TE a lot for some months until they get that great rhythm, then play normally..Like that, we see many Tunisians getting into top 30.. And that's perfect I guess

Q: Tunisia is the rising nation in TE tournaments. Why didn't it work out in Davis Cup?
Mohamed: I never played Davis Cup. In 2011, Bassem prefered to play a challenger instead of teaming up with me and this year we had a problem while choosing players so I just got angry and deleted my application lol..I think we would have made a great result if we played this year but unfortunately top players didn't apply..

Q: You seem to not be very patriotic. Do you think the country where the players come from is an important factor or is it just three letters behind the player’s name?
Mohamed: I think it's random, being a part from a country won't be a factor of being strong or weak. So probably it's just three letters behind players' names as u said.

Q: What will your next tournaments be and what are your self expectations for the rest of the season?
Mohamed: I'm now playing Buenos Aires on clay, hopefully I can do well there..Then I'll play Indian wells. I think I can improve my rank this year and get into top 5 but I have to win some big titles. I know it won't be easy cuz Voja will be present but I'll try my best.

Q: Will there be any big title celebrations? Will you be drunk tonight?
Mohamed: Nah, I prefer sleeping early tonight after having 2 exams at morning. But I never drink such things anyway..

Q: Thank you for the interview and good luck in Buenos Aires and for the rest of the season.
Mohamed: Thanks very much, bye.

Krisztian Jakab after winning the doubles title in Buenos Aires

Q: Hello Krisztian. Congratulations on your doubles title in Buenos Aires. In the last two matches you grinded it out in a Match Tiebreak. Was mental toughness a big factor in winning the title?
Krisztian: Hello. Thank you. First of all I would like to say congrats to Oussama to reach the final. You know my semi final against Mohamed was really hard. He is a very good player. Sometimes I thought I gave up mentally but I fought and I won the match. It was the same in the final against Oussama.

Q: You haven't been too successful in the singles event. Why do you think you are better in doubles than in singles and do you still have ambitions in singles?
Krisztian: Hmmm. Great question but I don’t know why I’m better in doubles. Two years ago I was much better in singles; my best rank was no18 but after I concentrated on doubles I didn’t play so much singles matches but now I’m trying to be good again.

Q: You put Kimiko Date Krumm as your nickname. Why did you choose her and are there any relations between her game and your game?
Krisztian: I choose her name because in my opinion she is a fantastic player. She is 41 years old and still playing and she is not bad. As for the game I like going to the net and hitting hard shots from the baseline and I think she is the same. I really like watching her playing style and her shots; they are so special.

Q: Do you have any aims to reach this season?
Krisztian: Yeah. I would like to be in top 3 again and it would be great if I could win a big tournament, a Masters 1000 event or a GS but it will be so hard because there are a lot of good players and of course I want to beat Stajus.

Q: I wish you good luck for reaching your goals and thank you for the interview!
Krisztian: Thank you and I hope we will often talk during this season.

Igor Josifoski after winning the singles title in Dubai

Q: Hello Igor. Congratulations to your premier title. How are you feeling after your biggest success ever in TE?
Igor: Hello, thanks. It's good to win a title, the first one for me. The third season I play Tennis Elbow Online Tournaments and this title came unexpected, in my opinion. I was really glad when I won the title, but the next day, I understood it's not anything special.

Q: You said you did not expect it. Do you think the new version helped you?
Igor: Hmm, maybe yes, maybe not. I can't tell it because with the full version I started to use the 2nd forehand style and it's cool, my shots were better, the serve was awesome that day, the day when I beat Jelena Jankovic and Stajus.

Q: You mentioned already the matches against Stajus and Jelena Jankovic. How did you manage to come back from a set down in those two matches and another one in the 2nd round?
Igor: Well, dasp10 was playing really well, it was a bit laggy and that's why I couldn't give my best in some situations but in the third set against dasp, the lag dissapeared and I started to play much better, I broke him at 4-4 in the deciding set, I was sure that I can beat him and I wasn't nervous. About the match against Jelena Jankovic... I was like I accepted the loss in that match, I just waited the match to finish and to say, congratulations, but in the second set when I led 4-3 and he served, made 2 double faults in a row and gave me a chance to break him, the only one chance, I converted it in a break. After that he played stronger and had couple of break points, I was lucky to save them and beat him in the tiebreak. The final, I was unlucky to lose the first tiebreak, a net cord that lowered my confidence. But I served well in the rest of the match and with a bit of lucky in the second tiebreak I came back and in the 3rd set, I guess I was the better player on the court and deserved to win the match.

Q: You told me that it is not anything special to you to win this title. What makes you thinking like this?
Igor: Well, I know it's a big success, especially that I'm playing the third season here. But I don't feel like proud of winning a title in a game.

Q: So do you think we have to seperate computer games and real life or can success in computer games effect your life?
Igor: Hmm, the real life and a computer game are two different worlds. They are not linked each other, so I don't think if I will have success in real life it will have an effect in the computer game, or if I have success in a game that will have an effect in my real life. At least, I understand it like this.

Q: Can we expect more from you during this season?
Igor: Of course, especially if I continue to play like I did when I beat Jelena Jankovic and Stajus. The serve is a big factor in my game, it gives me more confidence if my percent of 1st serve is bigger. In the last 3 days, my shots are like falling down right on the lines so I think I got the feel on the ball. Reaching the top 15 will be enough I guess.

Q: Thank you for the interview and good luck for the rest of the season.
Igor: Thanks, I hope I will see you playing this game once again, at least playing the same tournament as me. See you.

Q: Maybe this version would make me succumb to you.
Igor: I hope so

Stan after winning the doubles title in Dubai

Q: Hello Stan. Another week, another doubles title for you. Do you never think that you are boring us?
Stan: Hello. Maybe, but it's interesting to make people bored.

Q: Which means you have the Caroline Wozniacki attitude don't you?
Stan: Could be. The only difference is I actually win Grand Slams.

Q: Why winning Grand Slams if winning the Caro Slam is enough to get no1. Beside winning the title in doubles, you haven't been too successful in singles neither in Memphis two weeks ago nor in Dubai last week. What was the reason for that?
Stan: Well, in Memphis Florian and I played yet another close match which he probably deserved to win this time. It was funny, however, both of us wasted a 6-1 lead as well as a break lead in the third set in Rotterdam/Memphis. As for Dubai, it was hard to beat dr.Ivo but I managed somehow...I lost the final due to the new version and a lack of luck, that's all.

Q: Do you think this new version will make you unable to buy yourself a Moldovan taddy bear?
Stan: Very possibly. Or I might need to change its nationality. But I would love a Moldovan one.

Q: Do you esteem the high quality of those?
Stan: Very much so. They're taddylicious.

Q: Would you also take a Macedonian?
Stan: Depends how nationalistic that type of taddy would be.

Q: I just hope your taddytastic dreams will come true and wish you good luck for Indian Wells and Miami. Thank you for the interview.
Stan: Thank you. Hopefully, we'll be chatting again soon.

Florian after winning the singles title in Acapulco

Q: Hello Florian. Congratulations on your back to back titles in Memphis and Acapulco. Did winning those titles put a twinkle into your eyes?
Florian: Hi and thanks! Well since I'm playing with my eyes closed I'd say it doesn't make any difference, does it?

Q: I meant after playing not during playing. It seemed like you didn't have a hard time to win Acapulco. How was it in your mind?
Florian: Well people certainly didn't expect to see me winning 2 titles in a row with such different surfaces, plus the climatic conditions and jetlag, but it seems that I spent less time on court in Acapulco although playing reserves didn't make my schedule easier that week...

Q: What was the difference to Memphis where you had much tighter matches?
Florian: I have to say I was impressed by bassem's performance during the final, he played very aggressive, kinda like me but I couldn't find my serve that day so he put a lot of pressure on every 2nd serve. Of course I played him before on grass last season, but I'm happy he didn't catch 30 net cords this time. The SF vs. Stan was quite epic too, exact reverse scenario than the week before where he beat me while I was a set and a break up after a great start. I guess that's pretty fair but those 2 matches were damn tight.!

Q: You are already ranked no7. How far do you want to go this season ranking wise?
Florian: Well as I already said my only goal this season is to annoy people who think they will get titles since they are better seeded than others. I'm quite happy to see that I’ve been able to beat everyone at least once, so if my general level isn't consistent enough to hope for big titles, I’d be still competitive during Masters and GSs to annoy people who used to think in the past that I wasn't much of a problem.

Q: There are different opinions about the update. Do you think it can help you in annoying people?
Florian: I have been playing this game since beginning of 2010 so I’ve seen many updates coming, the only thing I can say about it is that once they got released, basically every player has been complaining about it. The update of January 2012 was a big change and certainly helped my movement, but concerning the most recent ones, I think it didn't change much to my game, but it seems that certain players have some trouble adapting, so I guess it's quite normal to see them asking manutoo to reduce other players’ advantages so that they don't get too much of a disadvantage. They have the right to be scared, but other players will just practice to get in better shape instead.

Q: You think it's a question of the attitude. Can being a Frenchman help you in annoying people?
Florian: Haha, love that question! Many people see Frenchmen as arrogant people, so if they are stupid enough to stick to that idea, I certainly don't want to disappoint them!

Q: Rumours have it. If you have annoyed enough people will you reward yourself with something?
Florian: Believe me, watching people getting pissed off like immature turds and whining on the forum about what should just be an entertainment, is already a great enough reward.

Q: You talked about practising. Do you think the playing pensum is going along with having success?
Florian: I think some people are talented enough to get the keys of that game after a couple months and dominate the rest without much trouble, as I wasn't one of them I tried my best and saw with joy that January update coming and helping my movement. Of course some brainless people will practice 24/7 and won't even try to change anything to their game, but as long as they enjoy themselves I don't mind.

Q: I hope you will enjoy yourself with a bottle of ouzo to help the economy of Greece and I wish you good luck for Indian Wells and Miami. Thank you for the interview.
Florian: Keep up the good work and enjoy your evening!

Voja after winning the title in Wimbledon!

Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
Congratulations on your victory. How was it?
Voja says:
Thanks, it was really nice
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
How hard was your debut in this tournament?
Voja says:
Well, I played here in 2010 but lost to Schmith in the semis so its not my debut but I expected it to be harder, as it seems PB style on this version really fits me.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
You have lost just a set. How did you managed?
Voja says:
Ero is a great player, I think he could have taken even more sets in that match so Im happy to get through the semis with only 1 set loss. I had a special motivation in the final, so I guess my real game was shown there.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
How do you motivate yourself so well in matches?
Voja says:
I always knew that if I play my best game I'll win. I wanted to complete the Grand Slam career and convince everybody that I am still at the top. Im just happy for not choking during the tournament like in RG final.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
Which shot helped you the most in this tournament?
Voja says:
All of them, I dont think I had any bigger problems with any shot so I ll just give the credits to my mental strength.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
You expected to win this tournament?
Voja says:
Yes, and Im happy to do it this year. I think I was convinced in that when I surpassed Tog on rankings.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
Whom are your idols in real tennis?
Voja says:
Federer and Djokovic. Federer for his great talent and sportsmanship and Nole for his fighting spirit.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Voja says:
Simply the best.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
The last:What advice would you give to a child who wants to engage in tennis elbow?
Voja says:
Id say - dont be a quitter and always be fair. Although my first advice would be - try real tennis before getting addicted to this game.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
Thx very much Voja, wish you are good day and GL at Olimpics and in future!!!
Voja says:
Right back at you. Thanks

Stan after winning the title in Wimbledon!

Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
Congratulations on your victory. How was it?
Stan says:
Thanks, it went well until the final. It was unfortunate that Dr.Ivo
had a problem with his internet connection.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
You haven't lost any set. How did you managed?
Stan says:
Well, my opponents until the SF didn't manage to win many games
even...In the SF, Kimiko played quite well so he won a lot of games,
but I still managed to win in straight sets.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
How hard was your debut in this tournament?
Stan says:
Debut? I was the defending champion this year But if you are
referring to the first time I won Wimbledon, I remember the final
was tough against Blacky. I was losing 1-6 0-1* and came back to
win it 1-6 6-4 6-3 6-4 or something similar.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
You expected to win this tournament?
Stan says:
Kinda. Though I think the final would be tough, and probably not
in straight sets. Perhaps even in 5. But I think the format without
the Master TB gives me the edge over doki. I'm sure Dr.Ivo and I
will meet again very soon.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
Whom is the game that you remember with pleasure and why?
Stan says:
In doubles, I remember beating Blacky despite his big talk...That
was pretty funny, as he was so convinced he would beat me after
Madrid 2011 final, but he never did (I think I won in Madrid 5-7 7-5
7-6 (7) after saving 1 MP in the TB). In singles, there are many
matches, but my favourite ones are the wins against Florian pretty
much every time until the 2012 updates.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
In your opinion, who is the toughest player from the tour at the moment?(singles and doubs)
Stan says:
For me personally,
Singles: Voja for sure
Doubles: Dr.Ivo
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
How do you motivate yourself so well in matches?
Stan says:
Basically, I'm quite competitive in everything in life...I don't like
doing something just for the sake of it, I like giving my best in
everything I do.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
What are your goals for this year and the next?
Stan says:
In doubles I would like to keep doing what I'm doing. And in
singles, well, depends on manutoo's updates, I'll try my best.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
What advice would you give to a child who wants to engage in tennis elbow?
Stan says:
Don't engage. It's a bit of a waste of time, but our competitiveness
prevails.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
The last:What should be improved in this game ?
Stan says:
Well, that's a difficult question. The balance between
counter/baseliner/defender styles hasn't been great in 2012. I
preferred the 2011 updates personally. There are several things
that are nonsensical, such as the unlimited counter accelerations.
So who knows what will happen...we don't have much control over
that actually.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
Ok Stan thx a lot, wish you GL at Olimpics and in future!!!
Stan says:
You too.

Stan after winning the title in Newport!!!
Maria Sharapova M.S.
Hi Stan.A new week,a new title!Congratulations! How was it?
Stan says:
Business as usual.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
This year was your debut here, how important it was to win for the first time?
Stan says:
Well, I applied for Newport primarily to try to win the singles tournament, but usually I apply for doubles too whenever I play singles. It's always nice to win a title though.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
Semifinal match against Mario seems that was the toughest match from tournament, how did you manage to won the main points in Master Tiebreak?
Stan says:
Yes, it was a very close match. My partner didn't play well at all after the 1st set, and Anca played great. He even had a match point in the Master TB but I hit a volley winner to save it. Then it worked out for me in the last 2 points, probably just luck and experience.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
You thought for a second that you can lose the match at the beginning of the Master Tie-Break?
Stan says:
Well, anything can happen in the MTB. Especially if your partner goes crazy haha...
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
In the final you meet an outsider, you had some pressure on ?
Stan says:
No. I knew he won't be able to present a tough test.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
In 2010 you preferred to play in Stuttgart, not Newport, why you decided this year to play here?
Stan says:
I prefer grass in general...also the clay colour is very annoyingly bright so I don't like playing too much on clay when I don't have to. Hopefully, manutoo will adjust that without me having to fiddle with the tennis.ini file.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
The last:The next week you play in Hamburg, and again you can meet Mario, this time in the final,do you think that will be again a closely match like was in Newport or will be easier for you?
Stan says:
Haha, actually we played a reserve final and I won 6-1 6-2. Guess that answers it.
Maria Sharapova M.S. says:
Ok thx a lot,GL in Hamburg in Singles.Wish you a good day!!!
Stan says:
Thanks, you too.
