Previews...

Postby Heather Watson » 30 May 2012, 20:07

I dont play with any previews. I know its a choice to play with them or not. I find previews distracting, not to the mention in real tennis there are no previews.

Its quite clear though that you HAVE to play with previews if you want to have any chance at competing against anyone. Its not really a choice anymore.

My personal opinion is that it shouldn't be allowed. Just a thought :)

Oh I forgot to add... ive been seeing people complain at how long the rallies are going on for... previews give you an earlier indication as to where the ball is going to be hit therefore, the rallies inevitably go on longer. Its quite silly that you try hit the ball somewhere good but of course the preview just cancels shots out and you end up going on and on and on. Previews also tell you where to stand to hit the ball... what happened to human intuition and human error?

Having said all this I know that even if I played with previews, it wouldnt really make a huge difference, other than the distracting huge colours all over the court. I just think stop with the previews and have some guts to play without ;/

I know some people dont use previews, but im sure most do.

I think it has something to do with human being unable to efficiently determine ball position basing on a 2D picture.

Arent all tennis games 2D though? Isnt this the point... that you cant determine where the ball is every single time? By allowing preview, you can determine it most times.

I pay without preview- I can determine where the ball will be a decent amount but not an unrealistic amount like some which makes them unplayable.

Lol, another newcomer making funny topics...You wouldn't beat any Top player with or without previews (after both players played with the agreed settings for a few sets to adapt), sorry  And preview in fair mode doesn't aid that much, it's not like fair mode includes the crappy aiming...the preview just appears after the ball has been hit by your opponent already  So without the preview you could react with the exact same timing after some adaptation...as people are now used to see those colours on court and don't even pay attention to them too much. The people that are beating you are just reacting faster, that's all...and you need time to train your reactions, and it also depends on how "talented" you are...

It's so annoying finding these people that don't move/react well enough yet (for Top 15 standards) constantly crying about such nonsensical things that are the same for both players (well, your choice if you want to disable preview but that's 100% not the reason you lose lol), and aren't the reason why you lose...Would be nicer to see more new players focus on cheap shots and complain about that...or ask Voja to show you some cheap shots, he's got them down well XD

Maybe this clarifies things......viewtopic.php?f=31&t=2434&p=26188&hilit=Richou+def.+Stajus#p26188 ;)
I started playing in July '09 and he was a Top 2 player at the time, what do you expect...to be No1 after 1 month...well, it won't work and you shouldn't waste your nerves if that's your plan :fear:

I can post about anything I want to, its my opinion so get over it. I've been playing this game for a long time so Im not a newcomer actually.

Am I really crying though? I think not. Its just a post I made sharing my opinion, the only tears spilled here are the ones you shed when Voja beats you every single time so sit down.

How did I know *you* would pipe up. Everyone knows your a sore loser yourself so dont even go there with me.

Im sure even with previews I would lose. I didnt say I would beat everyone so stop coming up with stupid things like that. If preview is so pointless and means nothing, then why do you use it? It *must* help you in some way.

Ive played Voja. I noticed the ''cheap'' shots he does. He isnt the only one that uses them I'm sure. Maybe YOU should stop crying about cheap shots all the time- I see you complaining everywhereee about it so seriously dont even go there with me. I dont care about how good you are and your ranking; Im not going to let you patronise me or be rude to me and get away with it so back off.

These cheap shots you speak of, your only problem is that they are better than your amazing generic groundstrokes so maybe instead of complaining all the time you should spend an extra 5 hours on top of the 24 you spend a day and learn them yourself.

I think everyone would agree Voja isnt just about cheap shots. You have to be excellent at everything and changing up your game is vital since every one is so good at the top.

Lol, let's be honest, I've seen your scores vs certain players...you are no good (with or without your preview excuses)  So, if you're playing as long as you claim to have been playing, maybe you should quit  I play 1-2 sets a day Monday-Friday and more on the weekend as I play 80% of my Tour matches then...too bad I can still beat you with one eye closed. Keep trying though, it's fun...these topics

Awww I'm no good? Never ever tell someone they are not good at something. They will come back and crush you. ;)

Yeah Im really going to quit because you say so... :D

Its quite funny actually... nobody on tennis elbow seems to have any modesty. Everyone is like ''oh I will easily beat you blah blah blah'' your ego is bigger than your head. You should all take examples from the real top tennis players before you use your lame comebacks with ''ill beat you easy''

Didnt you just send me a link to scores of your match where you lost 6-0 6-0 haha? -_-

Ive been playing for about a year but not online and not seriously. I only recently realised I had to change my stats to 780 points left when playing on fair mode + realistic. It made a big difference. I still dont know how to hit certain shots like fast short balls that I keep seeing people hit. Also on my keyboard its weird, doesnt let me hit certain shots for some werid reason. I read I should change key mapping to something else but its too awkward to use any other buttons

Its also really fun seeing you cry and complain 247. Keep it up~ maybe one day you will realise its doesnt make you look good at all.

Yeah, that was after 1 month of playing...and I didn't lose 0-6 0-6 'cause there was no preview or smthg, just 'cause I had no reactions/movement to match his  I don't mind excuses like lag, cheap shots, as TE players are experts in both of these  But this preview thing has come up 10 times already with other new players, and it's a comedy...And lol, I really don't care what some people think about my posts or whether it "looks good"...

Your keyboard is probably blocking too many keys at once...there's a way to change that setting but never had to do that with my laptops...

By ''look good'' I meant... have some humility and modesty and respect.

You keep saying previews wouldnt matter, so then why do you use them? It must help you in some way. You must need to play with them. What I'm saying is, if you played Voja who had preview and you didnt use preview, you would lose easier. Which goes back to my previous point of saying... preview is not a choice when you play so good at the top. You do need it. Which means everyone else should use preview too. Am I right in saying this??

Anyway, Im not a game changer, its fine if preview is on, Im not going to sit here and complain about it 247. I just made one post sharing my opinion. Clearly you dont know how to handle other peoples opinions.

You dont mind those excuses because you use those excuses yourself! If you didnt use those excuses, you wouldnt mind them ;)

I know I have to press up but the shot still ends up being slow... no idea how to hit a hard angle. People hit hard angle winners all the time that are impossible to get to~ no idea how they do it.

If you have a 100 mbps connection and someone is lagging on your break point, ofcourse, you'd understand :fear: And I'm not going to comment the "cheap shots"...that's there for addicts to use and abuse  And since Fair mode includes the preview I don't see what's your problem with this (it's same for everyone!)...wasting time on it like 10 others instead of working on your movement ;)

It's possible to defend many hard short angles if you move great and don't slice too much, but not all ofcourse...depends on the court situation and positioning...

Re: Previews...

Postby Heather Watson » 31 May 2012, 17:22

I know fair mode includes preview! What im trying to say it... everyone should use preview! Because like you just said, it has its advantages of course. Preview isnt an option, thats my main point. But I dont lie using preview- its not realistic and the huge colours annoy me etc. So what happens to the people who still love the game and dont want to use preview but know that they have to use preview because it will increase their chances by a slight percentage??
Anyway!!! Ive said all I needed to about this topic. You keep going on about movement. I hope your player doesnt get paralysed from the waist down ;)

Im not wasting time. I made this post yesterday, took me 10 minutes and then you came along and commented so I responded =p
