Reserve Match: Togtdyalttai(1) def. Tom Stoppard(Q) 6-0 6-1

Good match, but strangely slow. He played similarly to me, and so there were a lot of long rallies. He's a good player for how long he's been playing, so I think he's got a lot of potential.

Re: Los Angeles Singles (Official Topic)

Ok here is the deal...I wasn't home for 3 days and I expected that my opponent in QF will get W.O....but I see now that my opponent in 2nd round got W.o. and this is something that I don't agree with at all.
I added Tom on msn in saturday...and he didn't accepted it at all, not even now!...convenient enough I had to go in thursday...I waited for him for 4 days, he didn't show up, and I don0t show on on deadline day and he gets w.o....bulls*it

And I told that to Chiller in Tuesday and Wednesday!

I always play my freaking matches, but no....at least that should have been decided by RANDOM LUCK, not w.o. for him for sure!

And as I see he didn't played not one match in tournament except quals...a guess he should get w.o. again against goran too :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed:

Well even Tom has been contacting me and asking about you(Blacky). He doesn't come on msn so you need to email him.You told me you would play all your matches on saturday so I agreed to it.But as you didn't appear on saturday I had to take a decision and put the guy through who is ready to play his match rather than just giving walk overs.

I did random luck and BlackyM won so I think i'm going to change my decision this time and i'm going to give a w.o to goran in the quarterfinals

Wait, I'm online right now, why can't we just play the quaterfinal instead of doing a coin toss?

Also, I added Blacky's hotmail address on MSN, so I don't see why that didn't work....sorry about the mixup

Wait, I looked at the draw...why are you giving the 2nd round result to the other guy? He didn't show for 4 days, so naturally that should be a walkover instead of a random luck thing.

Also, I was always ready to play Goran, so I don't know why you even needed to call a walkover.

Togtdyalttai(1) def. K Z(5) 3-6 6-2 7-5

Great match! He played really well, but I was able to step it up in the end. I'm just really happy that there wasn't any lag like there usually is when I play him. :D

In the first set, he imposed his game on me, hit a lot of drop shots and I had to figure out a way to counter that, which took a while. I also had a lot of troubles with his serve. So he won the set.

Then I started playing better in the second and hitting more winners, both in baseline rallies and off of his drop shots. I was up a break for most of the set, but I was glad to be able to break at the end of the set to be able to serve first in the third.

The third set started out like the second, but it didn't end similarly. I was cruising along until 5-3, when I served for the match and got broken. At 6-5 on his serve I was really worried about going to a tiebreak because I'm not very good in them. Luckily I was able to step it up and play a few good points to take the match. It was kind of strange that he serve and volleyed on match point (I passed him easily) when he had only done that once or twice before.

Whenever I have a match like this (except in the Rotterdam semifinal :annoyed: ), I feel sorry for my opponent that he had to lose it because he played so well and came so close to winning. He deserved to win this title, but I guess not quite as much as I did. If he keeps playing like this he'll be in a lot more finals.

Re: Los Angeles Singles (Official Topic)

Postby Tom Stoppard » 03 Aug 2009, 05:59

I feel we have to discuss this tournament situation. I was present online everyday, trying to make sure my matches went through, so as not to inconvenience anyone online. Whenever I had a match against anyone, I emailed them/ PM'ed them/ and added them on MSN if possible, and in addition posted on this forum. And yet, three individuals failed to contact me in time, and of these three, only Blacky eventually contacted me - only to complain the day after over what happened. What he fails to understand is that HE is the reason the match against Goran didn't go through as scheduled, because I was supposed to wait for him, move aside my plans on the weekend and wait for him to come play me. Eventually I played what matches I could - I even played a reserve match against Tog - I was ready and present online everyday to play each of these matches. I should have been given the walkover as originally given, and then a RL draw should have been held b/w me and Goran - because the match would have happened had Blacky not been given the extension till Monday.

What Blacky proposed was a random coin toss to atone for his absence, an absence that he claims was atoned for because I didn't add him on MSN (which was a lie, because I added his hotmail address to my MSN and he has NEVER been online). Look, I feel bad that Blacky didn't have the opportunity to play me and probably defeat me for his quarterfinal place, but it is fundamentally wrong to reward his absence by giving him a 50-50 shot to win the tie, when I went online everyday from Wednesday to Saturday trying to get this match in and future matches in. Was this all for NOTHING just because Blacky says so and has weight on this forum? Come on! Personally, I have little vested interest in this online game, because its precisely that- a game. What bothers me is when people speak with a sense of entitlement and expect the rules to bend for them- which Blacky did, and eventually succeeded in getting done. By changing your decision Chiller, you deny the existence of any sort of consistent standard- and make this a system run by obligations and breaks. I remind you that this is now the second break that Blacky has received- the first was the Saturday extention, the second was the RL draw.

There are no hard feelings at all from me towards anyone, I'm a sensible, levelheaded person, but I also happen to be a student of the law and a former competitive tennis player who understands that rules must be followed and effort must be rewarded where due.

What are you talking about!?

Ok...lets see am I lying

First...I added you on saturday or sunday as soon as I saw that you'll probably be my opponent in 2nd round.
Second...you didn't accepted my msn, and you didn't showed up on msn until I left my home in Thursday
Third...you didn't accepted my msn even after I left
Fourth...I waited for you to accept me on msn, for 4 days, you didn't
Fifth...Deadline was Thursday, only day when I wasn't online...you weren't here whole week
Sixth...if somebody should get w.o. its me, not you, you apparently showed up on Thursday which was only day when I wasn't here, most logical is Random luck, because we couldn't find each other to play
Seventh...I talked to chiller in Tuesday and Wednesday saying to him that you are not online
eitght... http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/6256/nicelie.jpg ...this is your msn isn't it? As you see, you didn't accepted me...which proves that you are lying when saying:
What Blacky proposed was a random coin toss to atone for his absence, an absence that he claims was atoned for because I didn't add him on MSN (which was a lie, because I added his hotmail address to my MSN and he has NEVER been online)

And I think that anybody who has me on msn, can say that I'm on it almost whole day when I'm home
ninthAbout extension, I asked moderators, because I always play my matches...you can't find a match that I didn't played (except doubles...which also I say to opponent that I give them w.o.)...also I had to defend my title, and thats why I asked moderators for it...unfortunately I couldn't get back home in saturday as I planned, but in sunday morning.
tenth...RL draw had to be done in a first place...because of the reasons that I told right now...I waited for you for 4 days, you waited for me 1 day...nice
eleventh...I'm ceartinly not a reason why you didn't played your match against goran before weekend...you could've play reserve match before
twelwth...I won't reply to your insults

...you can't show up only on the deadline day and expect w.o....I'm also confused why did you get w.o. for the first round...cause I saw Shelbaea online few times before I left...

I never insulted you, I merely stated an observation of facts. You never added me on MSN.

soxfan101@gmail is not my MSN login, and that would be impossible. You need a hotmail account to add someone to your messenger and this is clearly not a hotmail email- you, as a moderator of this forum and as an established player, should already know this very well.

I actually added you on wednesday using your hotmail email blackym-osijek@hotmail.com and patiently waited for you to add me, and it seems you only added me yesterday as the below image shows. I never added you because I never received a request- which makes sense because you attempted to add a gmail email in messenger.

http://img190.imageshack.us/content.php ... ia=mupload

What I don't understand Blacky, Is why you didn't respond to any other of my repeated attempts to contact you? that is what is suspect here. I posted on this forum (even posted my MSN email), contacted you via PM and email, and yet you never responded! There is no evidence of you being online until yesterday!

Look I sympathize with you, and whatever situation that may have come up, but its simply not fair for a RL to be drawn when I was online everyday, and you showed up only yesterday. If you had added me on msn or even simply contacted me via the numerous other methods through which I had reached out to you, this could have been avoided, but you didn't do this. I contacted Chiller multiple times about this situation because I didn't want the walkover to happen- and he can attest to this. i have been online this entire week- my multiple posts on this forum thread are clear evidence of that, whereas your two posts came after your first round win and then yesterday.

*Sigh* I only wish I had played a reserve match against Goran, but as this is only my second tournament, I didn't understand the Reserve match system until Tog asked me to play one, and I looked over the draw. Unfortunately, there was no thread explaining what reserve matches are.

Also, just look at your PM inbox. You will see two messages from Wednesday and Friday that are indisputable evidence of the above. I'm not lying- I hope you see things from my perspective and understand how frustrating this is.
