Somehow, a couple of years ago, I managed to install a Mod to my TEM install which displays WTA Players portraits in-game (The picture in the Character sheets, not the animated player during a game). All those portraits are Charxxx.jpg and corresponding Charxxx.txt files located in the Data/menu subfolder.

This is all well and good for TEM, but I'd really like to do the same in TE. Since the game engine and the data is similar, I really thought that simply copying the contents of the TEM/Data/menu folders to my TE/Data/menu would do the trick, but unfortunately that doesn't seem to work.

Would this not work? Or maybe there was another step in installing the original Mod on TEM which I forgot to perform for TE?

Hello,

there's no easy way to do that.
If you really want to do it, you should look the menu files ; check the CharsheetSub.menu for TEM & the same one for TE2011. Display the central character using TEM's code into the TE2011's one might work (I'm not 100% sure, though).
If you have 0 programming skill, it might be a bit adventurous to try that...
